Marlin Serial# Question

Post by jkbrea »

I was looking at a couple Marlin 1895 CB 45-70's. The serial numbers are 91016xxx and 99129xxx. Are the 1st two number the year of manufacture?

100 minus the 1st 2 digits is the year of manufacture.
So 100-99 means the rifle was built in 2001
100-91 was built in 2009

Hey there jkbrea -- Around 2000/2001 Marlin quit drilling and tapping receivers for receiver sights. You will find some both ways for both years. If you are still considering either rifle, you might look closely at the 2001 and see if the receiver is already drilled for you. Hope this helps. Best regards. Wind
