I read someplace that someone in the chain of command said 40mm shells, when it was only .40 cal. pistol bullets....

What would have happened if the neighbors had told the FD that their chief is an idiot and then refused to evacuate?

:?:
Government service attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

Honestly I think I would have refused to evacuate.

If they asked why, I'd just say I had more like 7500 rounds instead of 75 (even though most are rimfire :D )....THAT would scare 'em.....!

7500 is still one poorly-armed shooter! I won't admit how many rounds I have, not on a public forum, but I can guarantee it would cause quite a stir if 40 rounds of old .22's are enough to call the bomb squad!

I think I'll call my local FD and let them know that if they ever come across any ammunition, I will happily dispose of it safely for them. No cost! Just give me a call!!!

An elderly Vet passed away, and he had old ammo???? Wow.....

I've booked bring backs when widows requested we come get what the husbands brought home in the late '60s. No reason to involve fire, the bomb squad, or anyone else. Items were definitely covered by the 2nd Amendment, but still highly illegal here. Booking them hurt.

And a nice lady from halfway across the country handed me a grocery bag of pistols once. Sole surviving relative, and she had no use for them. I had to book those too, including a nice Hi Power MKII .

Anyone else remember the widow in Chicago who asked the PD to take her husband's tripod mounted Browning from the attic?? On the evening news in the mid/late 60's.

And today someone goes nuts over a few rounds of ammo?? Uhhh huhhh...
