Political, Nonpolitical & Educationally Informative Posts?

Post by cshold »

What are the criteria used to determine what posts get moved to the political section?

Some every good educational and informative post’s get posted from time to time.

If they are moved to or posted in the political section, ultimately after a short time those post’s disappear as if they never existed.

At times it sure seems to me to be determined by who the OP is.

Example:

What was the determining factor as to why this post got moved to the political section?
http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... =4&t=62355

What was the determining factor used for this one to stay in the general discussion?
http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... =1&t=62335

Both BTW are NRA related postings.

If you use the "view active topics" feature, the section a thread is in becomes irrelevant.

I, for one, believe that info regarding Gun News is on topic.
Often, we are admonished that this is a family oriented site, with Pastors owning/presiding. So.. 8) ..I fail to understand why religious arguments get sent to Political Isolation.
Spirited arguments among a group of Alpha Males (and Females) should not be a big surprise.

I agree...!

Criteria is simple. If it's about politics, it's in the political section. If someone drags politics into the discussion, it gets tossed into the political section.

For you to imply that I personally would favor one poster over another and leave one post in general and toss another due to "favoritism" - well, let's just say that you do not personally know me and leave it at that.

The reason for the political section is to leave SOME space for folks who just want to talk leverguns. The political section is a concession to the fact that some of us find politics to be fascinating, to say the least.

Shucks, some folks can't even discuss firearms without getting all into each other's faces.

Another point, I don't have time to check each and every post. So sometimes a post slips by. Thanks for bringing that one to my attention.

Paul, when the subject is the 2nd Amendment, I just don't agree that it should automaticly get kicked into Politics.... It's the very basis of this site even if, for the time being, leverguns are not on the radar scope of the hoplophobes.

"Criteria is simple. If it's about politics, it's in the political section. If someone drags politics into the discussion, it gets tossed into the political section."

So why exactly was this nonpolitical 'question' post moved to this section?
Paul I never accused you or anyone else of showing favoritism.
I was just stating how things look to me from time to time.
Currently an example in the regular forum right now.
"OFF TOPIC" used in the title.
Others get told 'not' to use OT or OFF TOPIC.

Thank you for your reply and explanation Paul.
Y'all do a great job and it is indeed appreciated.

Some folks can't see to quit posting political replies to posts in the General Discussion forum. Yesterday with the dustup between a couple of less mature denizens of the board and all, it was easier to banish the post than to take the time to sanitize it. It's a good, and valid, piece for discussion.

We've got folks from all kinds of backgrounds here, to say the least. We've got folks from all over the globe. Yes, the preponderance of the denizens are citizens of the US of A, but we have folks from all over. There are MANY places on the 'net where folks can go to get info on the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. There are not that many where someone can go and talk about leverguns in what we hope is a relative oasis of peace in the middle of a turbulent world. Although I am personally VERY interested and involved as possible in the fight for rights, I am ALSO very interested in maintaining a place where folks can "get away" a bit from the stresses and strife of life. Being some kind of weird masochist, it has been my aim to maintain the levergunscommunity and sixshootercommunity forums as a personal oasis, inhabited mainly by like thinking people. Yes, it is selfish of me and inconsiderate of the desires of others to try to keep a couple of non-political hideaways for personal escape purposes, but now you guys are in on the truth.

There is no way that I can personally ensure that all political posts get sent to the political section, but just as there is no way that cops can catch all the folks that go speeding through town yet they still do their best to maintain the peace, we'll do our best to keep the General Discussion as close to general firearms and leverguns in particular as possible. The community aspect of it implies that we'll also be mindful of the desire and need to share things on a personal level.

For my own inadequacies, faults, failures and over reactions I humbly beg forgiveness and tolerance.

And last, but not least, thanks to all who help make this THE place on the 'net to get info on leverguns and many other subjects.

You made me look. Shucks, JimT's old and set in his ways - and together with Paco got the whole Leverguns.com thing rolling. He and Paco transferred the whole shebang to me a while back, but the day he wants it back it's his baby. :-D There's no need to use OT or Off Topic for the most part, but in his case I'm not going to make an issue of it. :-D Yep, consistently inconsistent describes us, what can I say?

And also, he's in Western Africa - where internet is iffy at best. Probably hasn't taken time to read the stickies in a while!

Yes -- i need to take my 30/30 out soon so i will get back to the basics. Been spending far too much time dinking away with pistols lately - although that is at times weather related, an indoor range and 200 rounds of ammo throuugh a pistol provides some welcome stress relief at times

Exhibit A to prove that posts are not blindly sent "over there" due to their subject line:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=62378

At least it's not gone political YET!
