Maybe we can get some little flags with leverguns on them to hang out our windows like the football fans have. :D

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere in the previous seven pages, but what will be the drill for next Friday?

Is there a rally point where we need to be at a certain time, and then go in as a group? Or, are we supposed to call someone to meet us at the gate as we start to get close?

Thanks,
Scott

I'll be there Thursday. Please schedule to arrive around NOON on FRIDAY. Call me or Ricky when you are nearby and we'll meet you at the gate or provide more specific details if you can't find it.

Once everyone has arrived and found a room we'll take a tour of the ranch.

Second, we will have a briefing and you can look at the auction items. (Rifle range only if you need it).

Third, two hunters will go out for their game Friday evening, probably around 6PM. If anyone specifically wants to target a hog they will probably sit in a blind Fri evening. Dinner is either 5:00 PM or one hour after dark - so eating will be early or late (approximately 9:30 PM).

Sat morning four hunters will be up at crack of dawn with me. We'll hunt until 9:30 AM. Lunch around noon. Two hunters after lunch if necessary. Two hunters 6:30PM until dark, and again hog hunters can sit in a blind also.

Sun Morning two hunters up early. Hunt until 9:30AM. Group goes to San Antonio for our out of town guests. Lunch on the Riverwalk and Alamo or other attraction as desired. Depart from San Antonio around 3:30 PM.

I do not have a cell phone, but will be at the gate at noon on Friday. Just to confirm, my main goal is a hog so looks like I will get some late evening stand time. Fine with me. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Tom Clink - We have a "bone yard" on the ranch. I have turned on a feeder in the Bone Yard and lowered one portion of fence while raising another. Between the feeder and the usual smell, hogs will be happy to come in (I hope). If hogs will get in there and wel see 'em in daylight you can pop one.

Joe:

If I'm gonna go for an Axis doe, how skittish are your deer, and more to the point: How close are we gonna be able to get? Or, are you gonna have me hunting them from a stand? I'm re-evaluating my battery and want to make sure I'm planning properly with respect to anticipated distances.

Thanks mucho,

OK, checklist time! We need to bring:
Deep Woods Off (or something with permetherin. I wonder if the BDU's I had treated 8-9 years ago are still good? Like I could fit into them anyway... )
Eating utensils
Hunting License
Boomsticks and things to make them go BOOM!

What else?

Knives for cleaning game? I'll have my Gerber multi-tool but I don't think that'll do it....

RSY - axis doe are probably the second hardest game to take after hogs. We will take anyone opportunistic but when we focus on them we will hunt from a blind. I would say 100 yards max. awp101 you got the list right. Nothing else is particularly necessary.

The ranch address is not the address we sent the stuff to. Punch in intersection of Hwy 173 and US 90 for GPS directions.

No I left yesterday a little after noon, stopped by the processing place and asked them to ship the meat to me. I didn't see steaks on the ticket, sausage and burger meat.

BTW, I learned sumpthin' new last night...that's no deer, it's an antelope! They kept saying "doe" and to me that means deer! I never thought female antelope were called does.... :?

BTW, should we start a new thread for the AAR to keep from overloading this one?
