I just traded into a Whitney Rolling Block Sporting Rifle in 32-20 and am discovering that load data for the .32 WCF is pretty scarce these days. I am sure a bunch of you are shooting Winchester 92s and 53s.....what is your favorite recipe? I am WIDE open to suggestions. When I was a little kid, I shot a boat-load of 32-20 and 25-20...but I have never pulled the reloading press handle on a single round of it. Looks like I get to buy brass, reloading dies, molds, gas checks, sizing dies...... And so it begins again.

I been useing 7.3 gr 2400 under a 115 lazer cast in my 1889 Marlin. I'm not sure of the pressure but its not much, I wanna say 14,000CUP & 1200fps or so but my notes arent here in front of me. Its very mild & acurate in my gun.
Mines only 117 years old tho.
I just got a Marlin 1894CL and have the same interest. If you search there were a few responses to my very similar request for favorite data. I suppose that in your gun you'll want to stick to cast and more of the traditional loads as opposed to modern barn burners.
Over on the Single Actions forum, 38 WCF and I have been talking about his Mountain mold over there. If you jump in we might eliminate the topic drift...
I'm thinking 2400 is probably a good powder for this cartridge as will be L'ilGun for the upper register loads. It is a neat little cartridge!

This is a revolver-intensity load that Ken Waters listed as his "Pet Load" in the article series and book of the same name. I have found it to be accurate and mild in my Marlin 94CCL, S&W M&P, and Colt SAA.
115 grain cast bullet (Lyman 311316 or my revolver-specific Mountain Molds design)
5.5-6.0 grains of SR-4756 powder

The single best upgrade to 32-20 WCF reloading has been the introduction of Starline 32-20 brass. Best of breed, by a long margin.
My favorite all time load for the last 30+ years has been 5.5 of Unique behind the 115 Lyman. I recommend 4 gr. of Unique with the same bullet for your old rifle. It approximates factory velocity and pressure---------------Sixgun
