most used levergun

Post by HillbillyGadget »

Which levergun and handgun of yours get's used the most?

For me I'd say my Marlin 30-30 w/ XS sights, it rides in my truck, and gets pulled out while working on my farm or hunting, when the weather is nasty or when the opprotunity pops up.

If I'm hunting up a doe and want a challenge, I'll take the .45 trapper or if small game is in the mix the '92 .357.

My most used handgun is a XD45, well carried the most, used would be a Ruger 22/45.

Hard to say on "most", as it varies from year to year. I collect, so like to spread my shooting around. Most though would have to be my .22's - mainly because a lot of my shooting over the last several years has been training my young son, and the .22 is where you naturally start for such activities. Same on a handgun - various types, but when I'm not shooting a .45, it's a .22 with my son. :D

Most used handgun would be one of my T/C's, I shoot a lot of handgun silhouette. Like YK I spread my rifle shooting around but probably it would be my Marlin 1889 in 44-40 manufactured in 1892. :D :D

I would have to say my 1892 in 32-20. Its good to shoot at home because of the low noise. Very accurate even though it was produced in 1893. Cheap to shoot also. It has logged over 6K rounds.
Handgun? Thats a toughy as I have many "working" sixguns but the one that (other than my 642 carry gun) gets stuffed in my pants or sometimes a holster while woodsloafing is a third gen Colt in 38-40.
1st. Gen. Colt SAA’s, 1878 D.A.45 and a 38-55 Marlin TD

My most used lever gun has for the past years been my 94AE Trapper in .45 Colt. Now that's being challenged by my Marlin 1894 Cowboy in the same caliber.
My most used revolver is my Old Model Blackhawk .45 Colt.

Winchester Model 94, .30-30.

I have handguns but don't use them. I haven't shot one of them for two or more years.

My "El Tigre" 92 in 44-40. It's My truck gun and is very tight and accurate. I also carry an old Colt W.D. King's conversion in 44-40 sometime. It's the only DA I have ever kept.

Winchester Trapper 44 mag, but my Winchester 55 30-30 is catching up.

Handgun with the most rounds by far is my Taurus 94 22, but most carried is my USP Compact 40.

Either of a pair of 24 inch 44 Marlin Cowboy Rifles, occasionally a 357 Cowboy or an 1895 Cowboy or a 30/30 Cowboy. The 44s are my "go to guns" for 99% of the time.

I switch the handguns around even more. I have 5.5 inch 44 SUPERS, BISLEYS, and VAQUERO/BISLEY VAQUEROS. The VAQUEROS have seen the most range time lately and I don't know why...the sights ain't much and none of them have been to visit Jim Stroh at ALPHA PRECISION. He's done all the target sighted guns....the man is a genius and the popular magazines are jusst beginning to feature his work. Plus he is a true gentleman to do business with. Come spring, he's going to see my smiling face and every gun that he hasn't done a trigger job on yet. I'll save the shipping prices rip off from UPS/FEDEX/DHL and go visit. I've been wanting to drive down, shake his hand, thank him for all the fine work he's done for me and buy him lunch somewhere nice.

Most used levergun would be a close race between my 307 Winchester and my 1895G. The edge would probably go to the 307 Winchester.

Most used handgun, as of late, would be my XD9 since getting a CHL.

My most used levergun has to be my Browning steel framed BLR in .308 win. That's the gun I grab when I absolutly want to kill something.

Handgun? That's a tough one, as I use several, but I guess it has to be my old Colt series 70, 1911 45ACP because I handle it every day. It's my bedside gun, it's the gun I grab to check out any unknown siduation around home, unless it's wild dogs chasing cattle or some other varmit that might require a long shot, then I grab the BLR or sometimes my pre-64 Winchester model 94. they're all loaded, but I llve in the boonies and I don't have time to load a gun if I need it.

Same for me - I have TONS of .38 special loaded up with 12.5gr of 2400 under 158gr cast that shoot wonderfully out of both my Marlin 1894c or my Puma 92.

My Glenfield 30 is my most often used rifle. I love it. My Ruger .357 flattop is my most often used handgun.

I usually have to think on these questions, but not this time. My favorite levergun is my Marlin 1894 in .32-20, with 28" full octagon barrel. I just love the feel, and the accuracy, so it goes to the range more than any other!
For a handgun, it's my S&W model 25 in .45 Colt, with 8 3/8" barrel. The most accurate centerfire I own!

A 1957 39A. Hardly a week goes by that some sort of garden vermin (chipmunk, wood rat, crow, etc...) doesn't fall prey to that deadly .22.

Although over the past year the SAAs haven't seen much use, and the 1851s are the most often out of the safe:

1894C...rides over 2.000 miles a week in the tractor. Provides a more accurate platform to launch the ammo for the SP101.

I am trying to wear in the barrel of a 6" GP100 though

I drive through LOTS of wilderness each trip with plenty of pullouts that have large rock formations and gravel piles along with the various foxes, wolves, and yotes that are "in season"

Makes me feel more comfortable when I have to pull over and sleep with a tanker load of fuel in tow also. Not that any raghead would want that of course :x

336CS Scout in 30-30AI.
45 Colt Ruger Blachhawk 6".

That rifle may change though, I'm shooting my 1950 Marlin 39A more & more...because of the price of components these days.

I carry my Ruger Security Six 4" in .357 Mag. everyday...the day long. Don't fire it as much as the .45.

It used to be that I had a different rifle in my hand and a different pistol on my hip on any given week.

I must be getting old, I have been packing a Marlin Cowboy in 44 since 2001 almost exclusively. Along with that has been a 4 3/4" Ruger flattop in .44, also exclusively. I shoot the same load in both guns which makes my life more simple.

Thanks, for the replies, lot's of great pics. One thing I noticed most of the levers are still sporting the issued open sights, out to 50yds I don't think there is a faster set-up than opens.

Marlin 1894P .44mag lever, and CZ P01 9mm semi-auto pistol. The rest of the guns are nice for playing around, but these two get the most work.

Have an M1 Carbine and a Ruger PC9 being added to the stable, so likely those two will get quite a bit of use over the next year.

Handguns: Colt Combat Commander .45 followed by Ruger 50th Anniversary .357 Blackhawk and MKIII Browning Hi-Power 9mm. I need a Single Six!!!

Leverguns: Till now: Winchester 94BB 375 Winchester and Winchester Ranger Compact .357, but I think I will be shooting my daughters Christmas gift the most now: Winchester 94-22.

Other Longguns: What! they make others!!! Just kidding: My Winchester pre-64 M-70 30'06 and my Belgian Browning Auto-5 Light 12.

Boy, did I ever give a complicated answer to a simple question! The short answer is my Combat Commander .45 and .375 M94BB.

Well, Times are changin'. For the longest time the Marlin .41 mag got carried around everywhere but the Sharps has taken it's place since it arrived.
A Ruger .41 mag Blackhawk or a Cimarron .45 Colt, both with 4 3/4 in. barrels go everywhere I do.
