Limb Bacon

Post by rjohns94 »

had a nice mornings hunt. I had written a long story but lost it on my attempt to post it. Oh well. Anyway, cold temps, threat of snow and need to be back for the Raven's game had me in the woods for a few hours this am with nice results.

Oh, and I didn't put that sling swivel in the bullseye, came that way a forum member I bought the rifle from.

Now that is the proper use of a Model 39!
I hate it when a long post disappears, I have learned to copy the post right before I hit the button just in case.

Around here we have silver grey squirrels. They can get pretty big.
How do you cook 'em?

i like em in a skillet, dipped in flour, fried like chicken, then a bown gravy made with the drippings (sometimes I even fry em with bacon grease), served with mashed potatoes, and some veggie and biscuits. They are sooooooooooooooo good.

yep, I quarter them

Also I debone some during the season and throw it in a hunters stew with pheasant, bunny, venison, dove or anything else I have left before it gets freezer burn

Has anyone here ever hunted squirrel from a boat? A friend of mine invited me to float a section of river in east Texas with him, he says they love the limbs overhanging the water, but you have to be quick with the net 'cause they sink.

yep, Jon boat on the little patapsco, hunted squirrels, wood duck and mallards floating sections. Used a shotgun then. Used the jon boat for frogs on the ponds in the area too with my bow.
