Question about Ruger Old Army

Post by silverbuzzard »

bought an Old Army at Cabelas. They had one marked 699.00 and another marked 399.00 Both new in box
I grabbed the 400 buck one but wonder what I have.
It's blued 7.5 inch barrel with gold inlays on the cylinder in the form of Army emblem . The grips also marked US
What did I put on lay a way ?

+1 I bought one of these from our very own rjohns94 last year. It is the "Ruger Old Army Horse Pistol", per the manual.

Any ROA is one of he stoutest percussion revolvers out there. A bit heavy, but you could clout a bull with it and still be able to shoot it.

A whole new meaning to the phrase "shoot the bull", eh?

To this day, I kick myself for not having $200 in cash at a gun show in '92. Somebody (who wouldn't take a check) had a stainless Old Army he wanted to get rid of. It looked new. Excuse me while I go cry....

I would too! In fact - I am!!!

I think we all have those "the one (five, ten...) that got away stories. Part and parcel of our obsession! I just tell myself now that it wasn't meant to be, and the funds must have needed to be saved for an even better purchase down the road!
