OT - Ugly Rifle

Post by deerwhacker444 »

I just bought one of the ugliest rifles ever made. :D

http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewIt ... =121096305

For $75 bucks, I couldn't pass it up. I've wanted one for a long time and this one was calling my name.

Any of you folks have any experience with these. I hear they can be fairly accurate.

I wish I knew the history of this rifle. Wonder if it killed any Nazis.?

I have only used one on on a 200 yard range and it was very accurate!
The carbine version spits flame and kicks a fair bit. :o
Lots of history behind that gun!
:D :D

They are interesting. Shoots well enough. With the bayonet fixed I can hold off the hordes from the top of the stairs!

These things are hoot. I have about 9 or 10 of them in various configurations. The bore diameters vary widely, I found that they will all shoot fairly well with the .310 diameter 123 grain bullets for AK's and SKS's and lighter loads of powder. The sights are regulated to the POA with the bayonet attached, and the soldiers always carried them this way, there was no place on their web gear for carrying the bayonet.

I have shot a carbine and have been tempted to get one. The somewhat unearthly boom and flash are great.

I don't think it's ugly, looks kind of graceful, actually. AND, it's got a lever stickin' out of it! :P

$75? How can you get hurt? You paid about what it cost me to fill up the Jeep a couple of months ago.

Don't know if it ever killed any Nazi's, but it sure did a number on my computer screen. :D --------Sixgun

I payed a fortune for mine i spent a $100 including a box of ammo. At 200 yards it was super accurate, yes the overall look is ugly but fits my shoulder nicely when in firing position. Personaly a person will get out of the gun what there expations are of it. Good luck and safe shooting. Jerry W. Baird 3

Nice Mossin. Now you need an Enfield, M1 Garand, M1 cabine, Arisaka, and a Mauser to round out the WWII collection. :D

JR, I have an M1 and my grandson has a 30 carbine so that is two more. I was really suprised that his Mosin shot like it does, an old man like me can bust a rock on the two hundred yard line with those sights and here in north Arkansaw we have plenty of rocks to bust.

Get 'er home and take it apart so you can scrub that hideous shellac off the stock. Murphy's oil soap & hot water gets the cosmo off and most of the dirt, then use a gel stripper to get all the shellac or whatever it is off, wipe down with MS, and after a day wipe in about four coats of BLO....at least you won't be afraid to take it out of the wrapper at the range. They are kinda of fun though, love the safety, nice feel on the trigger too

Oh yea, they are not the ugliest gun, ever see a French one...or even the wire wrapped Enfields, they got that one beat all to heck. You have an interesting stock, rear sling hole has the whatcha macallit like the front one...think they are called estch...something, something.

The last time I took my M44 out and shot it, the wife came running out of the house. She said she thought something blew up! :o

I was very impressed. 5 rounds at 50 yards and 3 of them were touching, all within a 2" group approx 4" above the bullseye!

Be aware that mosin nagan carbines are loud. I have seen the muzzle blast going away from the line as it knocked the grass down!

But they are fun! The first time I shot mine, when I woke up it was kicking the guy nest to me! I shot it in a funsies plate match once and when it was over I charged the remaining plates with the extended bayo.
