OT- question on .22

I was checking classifieds and saw 86er was selling a beautiful Colt Officer's Model Match .22 mag. I realized I had one lurking in my safe for years. I don't kbnow much about them. Anyone have info on these. I tried to look 'em up. My question is, did they all come with checkered wood grips? All the photos I find have them. Mine has the old Colt black plastic grips that say "colt". The serial# starts with 78.
