NRA increases membership at the............

Post by Boreman »

....WV Hnnting & Fishing Outdoor show at the Civi Center on Saturday. The NRA had a booth at the show. It was amazing to see the number of people signing up.My son and a buddy of mine were at the booth being maned by a fellow I used to work with before I retired. By the time we left, it turned out to be a really great day, notwithstanding all of the other exhibits because,
1 My son signed up and became a Life Member
2 My buddy renewed his annual membership
3 I sponsored a junior membership for any young fellow who wanted to join.

You have done a good deed! Thank you!-----I have a strange feeling that before this year is over, the NRA will increase to 5 mil. We're gonna need 'em.-----------Sixgun

I just wish the NRA 'got it' in the sense that they would oppose gun control on PRINCIPLE, rather than quibbling over the details, which as much as admits 'gun control' is a legitimate concept, which it isn't. (Of course, what percentage of levergunners would sell their semiauto EBR buddies down the river simply in order to have a couple more deer seasons with their pretty and nostalgic leverguns, postponing the police state for our children or grandchildren to resist, rather than get off the easy-chair or deerstand and do the right thing now.

Yes, we all need to support the NRA, just like the Republican party, even though both seem clueless - they are, unfortunately or not, the biggest opposition groups to gun controllers and socialists, respectively. Sadly, both suffer from favoring political expediency over principle, which generates the occasional short-term gain, but seems to lack the ability to muster long-term results.

NRA was 'ok' with Holder, and when the "assault weapons" bill already introduced comes up for a vote, I'm afraid they will merely quibble over which guns are on the list, which is as much as admitting that the government really can ban ALL guns, but only the 'scary' ones right now. This is like burning your furniture for winter warmth - sooner or later you need to go out in the snow and cut some firewood, unpleasant or not. Sooner or later the NRA needs to learn to oppose gun control laws, rather than quibble over the details.

Not trying to introduce a tangent here, but I just wanted to remark that this is... insane.

The NRA doesnt oppose gun controllers and the Republican party doesn't oppose socialism.

They are, by all evidence, ardent practicioners of either, respectively.

Doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

You're right. What about the 99% of gun owners who think any group but the NRA is "too extreme" and the 99% of "conservatives" who think it is ok to kick doors in if the occupant uses marijuana instead of red wine to relax? I hate to insult the semi-pro-gun and the semi-conservatives, but how much more of this can we take...!
