OT: Save Some Phone Money

Post by Blaine »

I got Magic Jack a couple monthes ago. It works exactly as advertised. The Gadget that goes in your USB port is 40 bucks and a year of service 20 bucks. Unlimited calling. Just like Vonage or better, at a fraction of the price. This and my cell phone are all I need.

I wanted to try it a couple months before saying anything.

This slow dial up plays hob with the videos. Can you give us a product review?

I had Juno dial up about three, four monthes ago. The only reason I had a landline. After canceling the landline, the difference between landline and ComCast high speed is only about 15 bucks.....well, well, well worth the improvement.

Thanks for the tech review. I really need to get into the 21st century. Most of my elctronics are old. I am just too cheap to toss anything working, try to fix everything I can, and don't care if I am out of style!

But how does it work with caller ID???

Like if you need to call 911 will they know where the call is coming from if you can't tell them?

That's been my biggest complaint of those services.

Who calls 911?

There's trade offs. Just for me, the yearly unlimited price saves me a few hundred bucks a year from the extra cell phone minutes I was buying. I call a lot of long distance and my night minutes start too late to be of any use to me. I can see the limits if this were your only phone, but it IS the cheapest service I've ever heard of.
