Winchester 92 Replicas?

Post by Henry McCann »

Who still makes a 92 replica...I've checked Navy Arms, Chapparral, EMF, Rossi with no luck. I'm probably missing the obvious, but would appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Old Ironsights,

Thanks for the information...They may still make them, but on their websites they didn't show any.

Thanks again,

Brett

That's because I believe those Makers don't retail. They just make guns for the secondary market... i.e. Rossi makes LSI AND EMF, but doesn't sell on its own.

No, he's on to something. I was just browsing sites for 92s a few weeks ago. All the usual sellers seem to have pulled their pages on their 92s.

I recall reading on these forums Rossi had been acquired by Taurus, or Taurus was to take over marketing, or the like. Perhaps there's been a blip in the supply chain?

Wait: Taylor's still has theirs. I recall they are made by an Italian company, and not Rossi?

IIRC Nate /Steve Young addressed the Rossi Restructuring vis-a-vis EMF & LSI on another thread.

I'm sure he will pipe up shortly.

It's true, Rossi has sold their brazilizn factory to Taurus. Taurus now owns the distribution of the 92 rifles and maybe the other Rossi gun, too. That part I don't know about. I do know, taurus has decided to no longer supply LSI with their Puma 92's made by Rossi. I was told by LSI, they still owners the Puma model name and they have stuck a deal with ArmiSport/chiappa of Italy to import their 92's and rename them as the new LSI Puma.
As for the availability of the Rossi 92 now under the taurus tent, it will still be available from EMF. Taurus will still supply EMF's version of the Rossi 92.
EMF has made some website changes so the 92's are not listed as Rossi's.
They are on the home page here if you scroll down; http://www.emf-company.com/

A side note to the above. EMF never imported the 454 or 480 guns. So farTaurus doesn't list any 92's on their web site. At this time the 454's and 480 guns are getting scarce. EMF has indicted they would import them if there is enough interest and if Taurus still plans to make them.

Does anyone know what the twist rate is on the Rossi .357's. The LSI site shows a 1 in 30 twist which I hope is a miss print. I did not see any 16" .357's on the EMF site, are they available. Thanks in advance.
