marlin
Went to put the Marlin puzzle together and:
Missing the screw for the loading gate, anybody have one?
Front sight is way off to port, solution, will silver solder it on at 0 degrees.

Re: marlin
Most of the Marlins for the past 120 years seem to use the same basic screws - I replaced one screw on an original 1889 with the ones they sell for the current 1894's.

Actually, I got the idea from you.

mescalero1 wrote:So you went right to Brownells?
You can get them from Brownells, Midway, Numrich or right from Marlin. AJ's right too, theyre all the same. At least from the 1889 to the 2007 guns, only the tang screw has a different thread pitch, the rest all work. I saw this earlier & thought I had a couple but I was wrong.
Re: marlin
You might get them quicker directly from marlin. I lost a couple of screws a few years back at a sass match. I called them up and two days later they were in my mailbox free of charge. They are pretty good people to deal with.

Re: marlin
There are a couple of screws in a Marlin that need loc-tite. The loading gate screw is one of them.

He's right - Marlin will just give you small parts. The ladies are polite want your address and get you off the phone as fast as reasonably possible with your part there very soon.

Re: marlin
Cold soldering is a quick and secure method of attaching front sights. Just wet/water the front of the barrel and wet/water the base of the front sight then stick the gun in the freezer until the sight freezes to the barrel. When ya want to go hunting, just pull the gun out of the freezer, tape a couple of ice cubes to the front sight (one on each side) and yer good to go.awp101 wrote:I've never heard of cold soldering...mescalero1 wrote:Front sight is way off to port, solution, will silver solder it on at 0 degrees.

Re: marlin
Cold fusion/hot fusion any fusion, I am getting a little concerned, over a front sight!!! Think I shall dig my shelter another 20ft deeper!! Who needs glowing front and rear sights when we've got this, the whole effing gun will glow, could be good, could be bad! Best of luck, dont point it at me. Mine dont glow they go bang.Hobie wrote:What Ed failed to mention was that cold soldering was the inspiration for cold fusion.awp101 wrote:I've never heard of cold soldering...mescalero1 wrote:Front sight is way off to port, solution, will silver solder it on at 0 degrees.
