Can't argue with that... especially the finish.

The next thing we need is a range report with some gargantuan feat like smacking a 200 yard ram target with it ...
That would be real impressive.

I have always thought those were beautiful.
Re: Marlin 1894 SS in 44mag..
I think my .44mag 1894 might replace the 1895GS for hunting, at least in the woods where I never get a long shot.......

I like stainless with Polymer better... but that's not PC here..Brant wrote:I love sainless with wood!
Didn't keep me from my Stainless & Black Polymer Externally Ignited Caseless Ammunition (flintlock) 50 caliber assault rifle though...
I honestly wish there was a drop-in (ramline type) stock set for the Rossi '92... That's the furniture it would wear 90% of the time...

I thought you had to have a .45 Cowboy rifle to do that...J Miller wrote:The next thing we need is a range report with some gargantuan feat like smacking a 200 yard ram target with it ...
That would be real impressive.

Re: Marlin 1894 SS in 44mag..
I agree on synthetic for a hunting/working gun, but I prefer camo to black. I had a lovely stainless Mini-14 I put a camo stock on and it looked great as well as being durable.Old Ironsights wrote:I like stainless with Polymer better... but that's not PC here..Brant wrote:I love sainless with wood!

It isn't 'warpage' issues like with older bedded bolt guns with one piece stocks, and it isn't really a 'durability' issue, but I've seen too many guns with condensation or moisture getting under the forend, the wood not repelling the moisture well, and the magazine tube rusty from it.
So - maybe I'd like WOOD forends (and buttstocks) if the forends weren't such a PAIN to take off. Make them held in place with a pin like the old muzzleloaders, or a thumbscrew, or something so you can come in from chores-got-caught-in-the-rain, and simply pop the forend off and wipe it down. THAT's the biggest reason that if I'm going out and there's much dew or possibility of a drizzle, I take the stainless/synthetic bolt action instead.
My perfect 'woods' gun would be a Marlin 1894 SS but in .357 or .32 H&R or .32-20, and a synthetic stock. It would make the nostalgists quiver, but I'd sure like it.

Re: Marlin 1894 SS in 44mag..
Hello guys I decided to scoped this 1894, I know I'm supposed to shoot it with just iron sights but my eye sights can't see any shots past 50yds when i'm shooting my other rifles and i dont really want to waste ammo so thats my reason and i'm sticking with it..I haven't tried her yet hopefully this week end..anyway here it is..its a Leupold 2x7x33 i thought that should be plenty enough for a 100yds to 150yds shot if i ever go hunting..
