I'm going shooting tomorrow for the first time this year,..woo-hoo. Plans are to shoot everything from .22 to 50 BMG, can't wait and hopefully will post some pics.
I have about 50 rounds of 30-30 that I'd like to use up. They are pretty mild loads using cast bullets. They're all plinkers and I want to salvage the brass and I'd rather shoot them than pull em. I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but do I need to let the barrel cool while shooting these rounds off? It's going to be 100+ degrees and will get hot quick. Is it possible to do damage to a barrel by overheating it? I know it can get pretty hot, but I don't think it would get hot enough to change the mechanical properties of the metal would it?
What say you..?

Re: Happy Independence Day Everyone..!
Celebrate your freedom as an American! Eat a hot dog off the grill, drink a cold beer and make some noise with a firearm! Then go watch the fireworks....Oohh, Aahh!

You'll likely overheat before the rifle.
