OT: Population Change (1980 to 2008)

Post by J Miller »

This came from my NumbersUSA people. They are the ones who have been fighting tooth and nail to keep illegals out of this country and prevent those here from getting amnesty.
The map shows the population increase in ever single county in the country. Very cool.

It may not tell me where I want to move, but it sure tells me where I don't want to move.

That spike in Luna County N.M. is due to Las Cruces becoming the second largest city in the state, I live in Donna Anna county.
All of us old hands have no idea whats up with Cruces.

Look at Joe's map, go from north Texas all the way to the Canadian border, shrinking or stable is the color key, thats all prime cropland, if farming is in that much trouble, we got plenty trouble!

...but, but, but... if it's not GROWING, there's no PROGRESS...! And no 'progress' means no 'progressives' - so who is there to tell you what is RIGHT, and how to run your lives? Aren't you frightened that you'll have to make daily decisions and set life goals all without someone else telling you what is best...?

My haunts are green, but there is yellow a bit too close to the north.

My area is green, and I hope it stays that way.

Only thing growing around here is corn. :D

I moved from one "explosive growth" (i.e. - over 100%) county (Mecklenburg, NC - state rank 11 with a population growth of 56.44%) to another "explosive growth" county (York, SC - state rank 16 with a population growth of 43.44%). Well, at least I improved a little... :(

Looks scary to me! Where my home is in Wisconsin it is yellow, where my cabin is it is still green, but from the overall look my home state is in trouble. Noticed where my land is in Montana it is showing "fast" growth too....what am I to do?

I recently visited back home for the first time in 10 years. This is an area around suburban Cincinnati.

The area I grew up in is declining in several ways, stores, bars and restaurants are empty and go out of business fast. This used to be a booming area but there has been a shift about 5 miles to the north. My old high school has smaller classes and the one to the north, which used to be small and no-account, is now so big they had to divide it into two.

It's not quite a ghost town, but quite a change from when I left. I think a lot of people in my age group left the area and nothing really replaced us (out of six in my family, only two still live in the area).

Although the map is interesting it does not tell the real situation, because if Los Angeles had a 100% increase in population they would not be able to house them all, but if some place in the middle of no where that had 5 people in 1980 has 100% increase they now have 10 people, the map needs to show the actual population increase from this to this would give you a better idea, but looks like to many people to me, send all them south of the border's south of the border, and bring all the factories north of the border, if you want to sell it in America make it in America.

The map does give actual population numbers. You just have to look.

You guys need to factor in people moving out of some areas (cold) to other areas (warm) - this move in population has been going on for some time now. Yes, some of this is illegals moving in too - and I am all for a national LEO bounty being resurected and encouraging LEO's accross the country to round them up and turn them over to ICE - who needs to streamline and expedite the extradition process for this "class" of imigrant.

The only problem is the "stable" areas also have some of the lowest incomes for college grads.

I'd love to move to a different place, but I don't see how I could support my 2.3 children.

Here in Clark Co. WA the population is just UNBELIEVABLE. You would think you are in L.A.
40 years ago just crossing the county to go to Lewisville park was like the Lewis and Clark expedition, now you can get there walking on people and never step on the ground. :o    :x
