OT: Elk Antler Grip Inserts for SP101

Post by Old No7 »

Thought I'd post a pix of the very nice elk antler stag grip inserts that I've added to my Ruger SP101's; that's the 3" .357 Mag on the left, and the 4" .22 LR on the right. The maker of these goes by the name of Sack Peterson, and you can find his elk antler grips on flea-bay (yeah, I know, they're not gun friendly...). He makes nice grips and has them for other guns too.

It's funny, I started to get interested in stag grips when I got more into leverguns and this website -- suppose I would have plastic inserts if I was into AR's instead???

By the way, my daughter saw these and remaked "Mom, Dad's gone overboard again *, now he's got 'snow camo' grips on his hunting handguns!"

* Not the first or last time I'll hear that remark...

As for the knife, it too has stag scales (imitation ones, I think)... I'd been eyeing this "Stockman" knife for a few weeks, as it's marked "Winchester" and I have a couple of their rifles. When I bought it yesterday, they rang it up at 50% off -- cost me only $12.99. It's not marked as "Made in China", but I have a feeling it is... But it's very sharp, really well made (for the price), easy to carry and handy to have around. Plus -- it also has "snow camo", so I'm all set for fox hunting next winter!

Tight groups!

Hang on to that .22 good and tight. They are real popular from what I hear. Very nice looking guns, the both of them.

Very nice! I googled Sack Peterson and he has a web site, so no need for flee bay if you don't want to.

Those are some nice looking grips. His prices seem pretty fair for genuine elk stag.

Yes, very nice indeed!!

I wish Ruger would re-introduce that little .22 revolver, this time with a real fully adjustable rear sight. They are in sore need of a double action .22 in their line.

Maybe he has a pair of brass ones and has to carry them in something?

Very nice. I never liked the way the standard SP101 grips looked, but those look good.
