Barrel mounted Skinner sight
Has anybody actually installed and tried the Skinner sight on a Model 94. I am thinking of installing one on mine. It is a circa 1942 and not drilled for a Williams FP and I don't want a tang sight. My eyes won't let me focus properly for the standard sight. I have nothing but positive things to say for Dr. Skinners front sight. Brass or steel?

One more time to the top and then I'll let this die. I guess if I don't get an answer from someone, I buy one and try it out. I used to shoot ok with a model 68 22 that had a peep on the barrel.

Iceman, Ive never had one mounted on the barrel just a receiver peep but my eyes are going south and the blade for the rear sight on my 30-30 is blurry am considering a one ragged hole sight to see if it will work or that bullseye sight that has been mention on this forum. danny

Barrel-mounted aperture sights have been discussed here a number of times. Here is the most recent thread, in which the Skinner sight is mentioned:

Another recent thread that may be of interest:

And yet another, with pictures of Marble’s new Bullseye barrel-mounted peep sight:

As you might discern from the structure of the latter two URLs, the search function here is very useful!
Perhaps no-one answered your question because it was very specific: use of a Skinner barrel-mount aperture sight on a Winchester Model 1894 rifle. I have not tried that sight on that model rifle.
