Don't forget to pick up some sort of probiotic like GoodBelly or Activa or Kefir to rebuild that intestinal flora you just annihilated.
Kind regards,

Both ends being examined is an EGD....esophagogastroduodenoscopy......yah, EGD. They usually give you Demerol and Versed during the procedure. You won't care if they shoved a 2x4 up your butt. My doctor I had a great sense of humor. He wore a German sub commanders hat on backwards and as he inserted the tube and looked in the scope he commanded loudly "Torpedoes loose!" The nurses had to tell me about it afterwards. From that point on every time I think about my next exam I have flashbacks of Run Silent, Run Deep!

I'mmmm baaaccckkkkk .......

We got to the hospital at about 8:45 for my wife to visit the dermatologist. She'd been diagnosed with Actinic Keratosis on several spots of her face. They got us right in and after a very brief exam and chit chat with the Drs they used liquid nitrogen to freeze the spots. They will scab up and go away and then the chances of skin cancer is nil.

After that we headed over to my appointment. Got there quite early and wifie said, maybe they'll get you in sooner. I agreed with her on that part.
Once in the office I had to fill out some paperwork, give them a list of all the meds I'm taking and then wait. Well, I had to go to the restroom and when I got back, they'd called my name. Wow! Back into the prep room we went. Row on row of curtained off cubicles. Once in my little square I got my BP taken, then had to change out of my street clothes to a gown that had to have been designed by a sadist.
Even with my wife helping me we couldn't figure it out. The nurse had to come in and show us. I'm glad I'm not bothered about nurses seeing my underwear cos without her help I'da been walking around in my birthday suite.
After the gown was on we got the IV started and then another gal came in and turned on the computer. I think she asked the questions at double time. Sometimes she'd ask me, sometimes my wife. Then the anesthesiologist came in and we talked. I told him I didn't even want to be even the slightest bit conscious. He said, good then we're on the same page.
They were going to wheel me into the procedure room but I had to go pee so since I had the IV hooked up I was escorted by a nurse who held the bottle of whatever. She said, follow me to the restroom, I replied, well you got hold of my leash I gotta follow you. Once inside she hooked the bottle to a hook on the wall.
That done we went to the procedure room. The asked me to verify everything they'd just asked in the prep room. Why not I though. Then the guide for the upper part was fitted to my mouth, glad there was no teeth in the way. And the anesthetic was started. I remember chatting with them and then feeling the buzz come on.
And .............. then I woke up in the recovery room. I laid there for a while, then rolled over and laid on my back. The nurse came in and asked me if I wanted something to drink. I said OK, what cha got? She rattled off a few choices and I chose the ice tea lightly sweetened.
That came with some crackers.
They went out and called for my wife, and .............. she didn't answer.
They came back and said she wasn't out there. That did cause me to wonder what was up. Did she ditch me? Did she run off with my Pathfinder? Did she go shopping? What did she doooo?
She'd fallen asleep.

I rested in the recovery room for about 45 minutes and then got a free wheel chair ride to the front door.

You guys were right, nothing to it. And I came out of it tired, but not loopy at all.

After we left the hospital we stopped at ACE hardware, and Harbor freight, then the boot shop.

Now home, and stuffing my face. Scrambled eggs and corned beef hash. Yum yum. :P

All they found was a bit of irritation in the stomach, and one little polyp. No problems otherwise.

Now I got an appointment with the regular MD tomorrow and after that I don't want to see another DR for a very long time.

And if I get sick after tomorrows visit I'm gonna fire them and go somewhere else. If I get sick there it will be the fourth time in a row.

I'm OK, Whooooo Hoooo

Fuss, what fuss??? :?

Well, the fuss was cos I can count the times I've been in the hospital for something like this on one hand with fingers left over. I'm not the type to go unless it's really important.

I'm not sure about a golden spike, but I'm sure they extracted all the gold coin in my money pouch.

The thing is, I knew there wouldn't be anything really wrong. I guess that might be why I was a bit upset.

That journal, and the video made me laugh till I cried. Well worth the time to read it and wait for the vid to load.

No, don't feel any lighter. Wish I did. Yes I'm pooped out from the ordeal. That witches brew I drank last night flat kicked my butt. The drugs, what ever they were, didn't cause me any trouble at all. Did get a nice nap, even if it wasn't long enough.
What the other guys said about the prep being the worse part is absolutely true. The actual procedure is a non issue. Actually once they dope you, you ain't even there.
I remember chatting with them as the dope hit, then waking up still hearing their voices as if they were still chatting with me, even though I was in the recovery room and they were no where around.

Yes I'm ornery, and yest I'm still the real Joe.

Yep, you got that right.

One good thing did come out of this, I found many boxes of strike anywhere matches at the ACE hardware store. Bought 4 boxes too. I haven't seen them in eons.

Glad all is well.

Recovery room!!! You had a recovery room??? From the time I woke up until they pitched (OK, rolled) me out the door couldn't ahve been more than four minutes. The operating table was also a wheel chair that could be flat or upright. You never left it from beginning to end. I commented that they had quite a assembly line and the nurse said they had another 18 scheduled that day. I said I felt sorry for her, that's a lot of old men's hairy butts for one day. She said it certainly was

Sounds like good news, Joe. That makes Christmas a little more enjoyable.
