OT: Got the Jagurandi on film - maybe

Post by 86er »

I checked the cameras for the first time since the end of deer season. Found this short faced, pointy eared, skinny tailed creature posing..... Last year there WAS a confirmed Jagurandi sighting 7 miles from our property in the photo. Maybe....

I don't think so because of the short legs. Ocelots have long legs and big feet and are generally slimmer. (A girlfriend's uncle had a pet one when I was in my teens. I'm still not sure if I liked Dynamite or the girl better.)

Looks to slim for a bobcat.Does the tail stop at the leg of the feeder? Can anyone blow it up some?

I'm going to say skinny, hungry bobcat. Jaguarundis don't have pointy ears or short tails, do they? :?

I don't know, IMO it looks like a Jagurandi is pretty low slung to the ground compared to a bobcat.

I'm still putting my $ on a bobcat, although don't ever rule out Chupacabra..!

Whatever it is I think Ricky finally has a valid excuse for not getting a deer this season! :P

Pretty interesting though. Be nice to see what it really is.

I don't know...that fuzzy picture sure seems to be in the same proportions, including ratio of legs to body length, as the example bobcat photo. Also looks like the tail is bobbed.

I blew the pic up and clarified it as much as I could and the only thing that is reasonably clear is the tail. Looks like a skinny bobcat to me.

I am kinda siding with Mr. Miller
Looking at the head size compared to body, also the front leg style and the way the body starts
a slight upward curve from the front leg/shoulder area. Also along the top of back where it meets the neck/shoulder base.

The Jagurandi looks to have a smaller head/legs style looks different and the body starts dropping behind front leg/shoulder area????? Also like Joe say's the tail!

Besides---------No one knows cats like Joe Miller!

It's weird with the blurring(Fog???)stuff right in the area where the putty cat is.
Is someone playing a little prank??????? :) Joe??????

Really, I don't know but it's not a deer/pig/dog!

I'm going with Joe Miller on this one. The legs seem too long for a jaguarundi and the tail looks to be short. Also, as noted above jaguarundis have relatively small heads with fairly short ears.

Aren't those trail cams neat though? I've got pics of red and grey foxes, coyotes, black bears, mule and white-tailed deer, and numerous other critters with mine over the past couple of years. I only have one, a Cuddeback, but I enjoy it a lot. :P

Not to be pessimistic, but could it be an ordinary house cat, whose apparent size is distorted by the two-dimensional image and the blurry spots (which I assume to be dirt on the lens)?
