39A Parts Date Question
Can you tell me appx. what year these parts were made? The barrel is supposed to be a Micro-Groove. Let's presume they all came from one gun.

Re: 39A Parts Date Question

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
I posted over on RFC for you. Based on what I see and if the barrel rollmark says," Microgrooved", then it dates to the post Ballard-pre Golden era.....1954-1956.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
Re: 39A Parts Date Question
The serial numbered part didn't come with them.

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
It looks exactly like my own Model 39, including the four plug screws in the side of the barrel. Mine was made in 1955.

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
That's a beauty. I intend to use some of these parts to restore my 1947 39A.

Building is good.
Re: 39A Parts Date Question
I hope the 1955/56 "upper" will fit my 1947 "lower."

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
I don't think the receiver design changed until 1988.

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
Not positive, but I seem to recall reading that the 39A's with barrels drilled and tapped for a Weaver N mount were made for Sears, Roebuck. Ring a bell with anyone?

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
That appears to be the case but you could also return any 39A to Marlin for drill & tap for $5.00 I believe.

Re: 39A Parts Date Question
Seeing the pictures of those parts kind of breaks my heart, but if you can use those parts to get another 39a back on the road, so to speak, then it's all good. Just talking about a 39a makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
