OT --Prayers for Kat (update II) ... MORE!

Post by Buck Elliott »

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!

Kat is now awake and cognizant. She is sifting through her head, trying to remember any or all of the past 38 years. When she coded, during her surgery, she was "gone" for more than 10 minutes, and some things in her mind seem to have slipped loose and are wandering freely in her "new" world, but she is working hard at corraling her thoughts & memories.

Medicos took away her "kangaroo" bag (feeding) and put her on a REAL diet this AM. Milk-shake & thin oatmeal for breakfast..! Then a short walk around the hospital corridors afterward. May not sound like much, to some, but it is monumental for her.

She is still unable to speak (vocalize) but I got a flurry of txt messages from her this morning, with her Dr's permission. Best thing that's happened in my life for a few weeks.

To all who put Kathe in your thoughts & prayers this past while, I give you my heartfelt thanks and appreciation, and ask for your continuing support, until she is back to herself again.

Can't begin to thank you enough, my friends & brothers. God Bless you all

Wonderful. That's a long long ways from knocking on death's door. Glad she's improving.

Wonderful news. Makes the sun shine a little bit brighter today!

Wonderful news!!! I can tell you first hand that eating thin oatmeal and being able to walk at all can indeed be monumental!!!

Buck, thanks for the updates. Her story really hits me pretty hard and I hope and pray she will be OK. I pray for her, but I also pray and thank you for all you have done for her. So much more to say, but not appropriate.

Just thank you for being who you are. It matters.

Yesterday morning, I got a txt from Kat's sister, then sis turned the phone over to KATHE, herself, and I got the first words straight from her, in what seems to be a long, long time...

She had tons of things to say, and millions of questions, but her memory is beginning to sort itself out, albeit slowly for now. Her Doctors don't want her to push it too hard, at the moment, and I agree.

Then, last evening, she "snuck-in" a phone call, watching over her shoulder for the "Phone Nazis," as she calls them. Kat is still unable to vocalize, but she was able to whisper a bit, until it started to be too much effort. What a sweet, wonderful experience for us both.

Tomorrow (Friday) she will be released from the hospital in SLC, and taken to the memory care unit of another hospital, closer to home, where she will undergo a plan of memory therapy. Nothing wrong with her mind -- just a lot of loose information to collect and sort out.

Again, friends & brothers, THANK YOU for your faith, prayers, good wishes and thoughts. With God in her corner, she'll make it through this, and so will I...
Regards

Buck
