Marlin 1894 44/40 Value

Post by trouthunterdj »

Hello all,

I was given a 1984 44/40 rifle but it has ben refinished. What would be the estimated value? I know this is hard but can someone "ballpark" it for me?

Thanks

Well those who can help need to have some idea of when it was manufactured. Please post the serial number with the last 3 digits replaced with x's so that they can tell. Someone who can help will probably be along shortly.

So if the serial number is

Hm then again refinished. That may well take the serial number out of the equation. But as I said someone who can answer your question should be along shortly or at worst case in the next 24 hours.

Thanks for the help!

The only number I can find is on the bottom in front of the lever and is 4 digit 58XX.

Thanks Again,

Pictures, man! We neeeeed pictures!

Also, other details such as bore condition, functioning of the action, etc. would help.
Have you hugged your rifle today?

Hmmm, 4 digits.........and I bet it says "Model '94", on the top tang too.

Barrel length? Mag tube length? Pistol grip or straight grip? Lots to consider especially if it was a "restoration" or just a "refinish".
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

I tried to post a couple pictures guys. I wasn't able to because my images a re to wide and I don't know how to change it.

You were right it does say Marlin MODEL 94 on the tang. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on this for me. It has a full Magazine under the barrel and a straight grip. Curved metal buttplate also.

Thanks for a great site,
