A Little Different Vintage Picture Of The Day.

Post by cshold »

A SALUTE TO WOMEN IN TRAPSHOOTING

From Annie Oakley and Plinky Topperwein to Nora Martin Ross and Debbie Ohye Neilson. Our salute to women in trapshooting. Over the long history of trapshooting women have played a vital role in the development and history of our sport. The photographs below show just a fraction of these wonderful ladies. Today there are more women shooters than ever before. There are 25 women enshrined in the Trapshooting Hall of Fame.

The opera singer? She also shot at the 1916 Grand Nationals (youngest shooter). In 1927 she joined the Chicago Civic Company.
Trap-Shooter Makes Debut in Opera Miss Lucille Meusel, of Green Bay,
Wisconsin, a graduate of the Lawrence College Conservatory of Music, who at the age of sixteen won the women's national trapshooting championship in 1927, made her debut as a soprano with the Chicago Civic Opera company, November 4

During the recent Grand American Handicap in Chicago, Miss Lucille MEUSEL, seventeen years, was one of the fairest of the fair competitors. She is pictured at the right. Captain Any MEADERS (center), seventy-nine years, had the distinction of being one of the oldest shooters entered. George Miller, nine years, was the "baby" competitor. Master George hails from Brenton, Ala. He is shown at left.
Pretty neat!
Sincerely,

Hobie
