Lyman M21 receiver sight for 1895. Different lengths?
I recently bought a Lyman 21 "Climin Lyman" receiver sight on Ebay. I needed a front screw and someone here suggested Joe at www.aperturesnmore.com Joe made the screw for me at a very reasonable $8 shipped. Thanks to whoever suggested that.
However, I went to install the sight and the aperture bridge is way too far forward where it will interfere with loading and ejection. Is there more than one length for the M21 sights? If so, what does the short one fit?

You're Welcome! Joe is a great guy to do business with.
What is stamped on the inside of the bridge and mounting plate? It should be stamped "WR", for the Win 1895.

It is stamped "DA" on the inside. The outside has the running deer emblem and "Lyman's Pat June 25.1895" Also interesting, the front mounting hole is not counterbored like pictures I see of the 21. it has a slightly elongated hole that is completely flat on the outside and relieved on the inside. Someday I'm going to force myself to buy a digital camera!
Any chance that this was for a M92 wnchester?

How long is it? Yes, might have been made for a 94...Irascible wrote:It is stamped "DA" on the inside. Any chance that this was for a M92 Winchester?

DA is for the Win 1894, 64, & 55......sorry for the bad news.

The Lyman 21 and 38 for the '95 is marked "WR", "DA" is for the 94 series, and "N or "NI" fits the 1886. A 21WR went today on eBay for $199. I did not want it because the finish was largely worn off. If you have no use for your 21DA I'm willing to buy it if the finish is good and original.

I have no use for the 21 "DA", But it has been re-blued. I didn't care about the re-blue as my '95 was also re-blued. I have a M64, but I'm happy with the receiver sight. So I guess the 21 "DA" is for sale. I don't know what it's worth though. At $200 I obviously paid too much money for it.

I apologize for my ignorance, jdad, please try again. No spam filter here, just too full a mailbox. I cleared it, so it should work OK.
