Good for me again!!!

Post by fordwannabe »

Ok last week I stated I am cancer free at this time and was thrilled, yesterday I was at the other Doctor's office(weight management) and I crossed the 100 pounds lost line. Since 10/2008 I have lost 103.5 pounds. I am going bear hunting in Maine in the fall and I will be in the 200's for the first time since High school( as of yesterday 303.2pounds) these guys haven't seen me since I was in the 400's. Had to tell yall, thanks for listening. Tom

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU! It sounds like you are on a roll, and maybe a bear will cap the effort!

Congrats. That's some accomplishment. A friend of mine is getting surgery (lap band or some thing) as he's over 400 and wants to be in the low 200's. Said, "inside the year, I'll be lighter than you." In a pig's eye! All I gotta do is drop 40 and I'll be below 200 again... My goal is 175, but probably quit at 180 like the last time.

Way to go, Ford. I'm also 2 yrs out after my "program" and remain cancer free. I lost 62 lbs on the chemo/radiation diet and have regained 35 of that. :)

Congrats! Now tell us how we can do it. I have reduced my daily caloric intake to < 1500 calories during the week (Monday -Friday) and no more than 2000 calories a day on the weekends. I am now running (boring as all get out) one mile three times a week ( it takes me anywhere from 9 minutes to 11 minutes each time), I work out with free weights three times a week at forty minutes a session (work with 100# barbell and two 25# dumbells, reps are up to 12 on the four barbell exercises and thirty on the five dumbell exercises). This is besides walking at least five miles a day and try to do physically active chores manually everytime I get a chance. AND...after initially losing 12 pounds in less than a month, I HAVE GAINED THAT BACK PLUS ADDED 10 MORE POUNDS

Ten years ago I weighed between 195# and 200#, seven years ago I had a heart attack and was told to quit playing basketball on two leagues (the Doc said it was ok if I joined a "senior" league once a week, but to quit trying to win). Within three months after getting out of the hospital I gained 30 pounds even though I cut my food intake in half. Now I am almost 245# and working almost as hard as when I played basketball, baseball, and flag football, yet the pounds keep coming...what's the secret Ford?

Congrats.
Happy to hear that you are doing what many can't seem to do with the weight loss, and great news that the big scary big C is not present. Sounds like you have received a wake up call and responded. Now what are you going to do with the gift of those extra years? My suggestion is to invest in the lives and needs of others, perhaps a boy in your neighborhood that needs a guiding hand. And thank the Lord for each new day! Not trying to be a busybody, just sharing my thoughts on your great news. Keep up the great work and enjoy that hunting trip.

Congratulations!

6 years ago they said I was a diebetic. But the doc said I didn't have to be and gave me calorie per serving chart. I lost 150 lbs in two years (320 to 170). I kept it off 2 years, but in the last 2 I've crept back up 20.

For me it's all about how much fuel I need versus how much I take in. I shoot for 1500 cal/day. Special occassions come by pretty often and I stuggle with my motto: "Food is fuel, not entertainment."

I've been entertaining myself too much lately. I have NOT given up the struggle, however.

BTW, the diabetes is GONE at this weight and below. I WILL get back on top of it!
