Ok, Coming soon to a Sam's near YOU!

Post by Griff »

... if you happen to be in eastern KS/western MO, north central AR, southern MS, central GA, & central FL.

I picked up the first load of cargo that interested me since I picked up 48 hi performance Chevy 502 engines destined for Mercruiser Marine in Stillwater, OK...

But darn, I can't talk about what I'm carrying... but I will say that it's something all of us would like if we don't already have one, and we'd like a bigger one if we do... HEY, get your mind outta there... Tell ya all about it on Friday after I get rid of the last of them down in Lakeland, FL!

Nifty use of old Dodgem cars. However, I cannot fathom how a state like CA would allow something like those to be licensed street-legal? In California? Wouldn't somebody get hurt?

there's another thread on these on the board - they have motorcycle engines and I read one place on the net that one of them topped at 160 mph. 100 mph is true speed in a bugeye Sprite - image anything close to that speed in a high-centered bumper car

Boats of all things... imagine that! I kept tellin' the guy loading them that he'd only put 47 in my trailer. He unloaded about half before he realized that sittin' side by side, there were only EVEN numbers in the trailer...

So. when that didn't work... I told the guy UNLOADING them in OK, wait stop, you already have all 48... that ONE is for another delivery... (yea, MY HOUSE!!!) That didn't work either, so that tired ol' 454 stayed in my p/u!

Sorta OT but Griff will know what I am talking about. I was hauling a Government load and they put 3 hummvs on my flatbed to take to a repair facility in Pennsylvania. The green guy in charge gave me the paperwork and sent me on my way(and I didn't really look at it cause I had hauled this same stuff 20 times before). Next morning I am at the repair facility and they only wanted 2 of the trucks cause that all that was on the paperwork. I tried for 15 or 20 minutes to get the guys to unload the other one and they just weren't doing it...no way! I was just ready to pull out for the hunting cabin with our new camo deer dragger when a full bird pulled up and started yelling at the "numbnutz" to get that thing off the truck. I was almost disappointed to "lose my new toy". Had a couple of neat loads over the 10 years...but most were just stuff that needed to go from here to there.( I loved haulin oversize stuff)Tom

Yep shipping people are a trip. A few weeks ago I went to a stop and saw on the top of the invoice the guy was getting two pallets of thermal paper. When I backed up to the store I told him ahead of time, I think you might have a problem here. Nobody orders that much paper for an adding machine. he looked at me and said are you kidding? They actually sent that? I said well if you order it they ship it, that's the way it works. The guy wouldn't even unload it. I asked him how he was going to get his credit. He says Oh I'll get my credit alright. Hey like I tell 'em... I just drive the truck.

And since I no longer have that wagon, (long story about missed appointments and communications failures) I'll end the suspense early! And unfortunately, I won't get to meet up with Rusty... as now I'm waiting to get loaded with some other STUFF and will be headed to Dallas!

As far as what Sam's is actually getting, I really don't know. Because the one stop I did deliver at Sam's they kept 'em boxed up. The first stop I had they wanted open 'em up and inspect 'em. So I took PICTURES...

There were a coupla different colors, but I liked these two.

What was interesting was that NONE of the were JD "Green"! What was unique about those two was the lock & handles (not shown) were black chrome. The brass & regular chrome were nice, but...

Noah, you never can tell; have you seen the collectible model tractors JD markets? I got a buddy who probably has a hundred, some of which go back to when he was a kid on the farm in the '60's!
RIHMFIRE wrote:very cool!....hope they ship a few to our sams
Sam's may not be getting the JD branded ones, but the regular Liberty's are a nice safe. They also make the Winchester, Browning, Remington & Cabela's. If I was interested (read could afford one) right now, I'd be on the horn... You got a headsup!

Now those are nice. I had some time to kill today and stopped in at the Wichita Sams, They had the std. Liberty safe..fire rated 1500* at 30 min IIRC. $699. I figured it was a Liberty Safe you were hinting at, but your JD version is WAAAY COOOL...I want one in JD yellow.

I have two Liberty safes, and love them both. And, I suppose it is nice that Sam's will have a private label Liberty, although the JD name is a bit of a surprise. Don't get me wrong, I like Liberty, and I like John Deere. I even have a restored 58 year old John Deere MT in the barn. But, I feel a bit sorry for the small business retailer in my town that sells only Liberty Safes. He gives great service, and supports our local firearms events. I hope this does not take food off his plate.
