OT: The Call You Hope You Never Get...

It came to me, Saturday afternoon late. One of my sons called, and I could tell something was very wrong. He said he had some bad news --- that another of my sons had passed away. He had been attending a Narcotics Anonymous retreat/camp, and had either taken something with him, of got it from someone else, and was found dead in his tent that morning, apparent OD.. He had been fighting a drig problem for years, but seemed to be gaining the upper hand lately. Some demons never want to let go of us, and I'm sure that's how it was for him. He was just 36.

In this Country; in this day and age, a man should not have to bury his children...

Friends, go hug your wife and/or kids, right now, if you can, and thank God they are there to return the gesture.

As the father of a sometimes "wayward one", I have lived in fear of that call, but been lucky so far. There are no words to express the horror.

Buck, I can't tell you how sorry I feel. I'm at a loss for the words. You're right, a parent should never have to bury one of their children. God bless you and yours and the hope he guides you through this.

Buck, I have no idea how you must be feeling with this tragedy. I just recently lost my closest uncle to suicide. I can't imagine the feeling of losing a child. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Buck, saddens me to hear of your loss. I can relate to this. My Grandfather said the same thing when I was 18, and we were on the way to the cemetary to bury my mom. Now that I am a father, I hope I never have to go thru what you are enduring. Will say a prayer for your son and your family.

What can I possibly say except " You have my sincerest deepest sympathy.
First your lovely wife and now your son.

You need to turn to faith that God has them in his arms and you will see them again.(what will be a blink of the eye in the hereafter time)

Buck, you have my prayers again for another loss in your life. My wife and I buried a daughter a couple of years ago, she was 38 at the time of her death.I know the pain is there but the Lord can sure make it easier, just lean on Him.

Buck, as the others before me I can not even come close to finding the words to express the sorrow I feel for you. As you said parents should not have to bury their children. I am sure you would as I would gladly exchange places with them but we can't and must go on with the hope that maybe in some way we can prevent another parent from living the pain you are going through.

Buck I am truly sorry and offer my sincere condolences. You share my late Father's name and my only daughter made a trip to El Paso with her Fiance' where Dad is buried. She posted a little You Tube video at his graveside. It brought a tear to my eye remembering Dad and how thoughtful my daughter was to make this journey JUST to be able to tell me about it.

Your terrible message reminds me of how lucky I am. I can only begin to imagine the pain you are feeling. Hold your friends and family tight and let them bear some of the weight. You are in the toughts and prayers of an awful lot of people, me included.

You've had way more than your share of stuff to deal with this past year.

Just remember that there are still lots of others in the world who will continue to need your strength to help THEM through the bad times, so take care of yourself.

I'm sorry Buck.
My daughter is an addict. Clean for 3+ years. From what I know of the disease I have a good chance of joining you. I have no way of knowing how you feel, but I'm crying just the same.

Until you've lost a child a person just cannot comprehend the pain it causes. I've been there done that, and you have my condolences. It'll take time but the wound will scab over.

We can not ask why but only accept the reality of our existence.

I can only imagine your sorrow and pain of loss.

Buck, I have no wise words, and can only offer you my prayers for you, & your family. As one whose in-laws had two of their three children turn down that path, I have seen the anguish. Regardless of what pain and suffering his demons heaped upon him on this earth, at least that is over.
