104 pounds! Whoa. If I saw that in the woods, I would have let it go thinking it was someone's pet.-----------Sixgun

Re: OT Here's a big dude!
They are lying, that is a wolf coyote hybrid, or just a plain wolf. They are lying and hiding the fact from the public that they have wolves there. All you have to do is look at the one pic. Either that or it's someones malemute.

Egads! Well, that's a wolf hybrid for sure. But still, 104 pounds? Amazing, and I also find it amazing that the deed happened. I'd like to know how because wolves prey on coyotes so this critter is pretty odd for sure.

Coyotes don't. No way, no how.dr walker wrote:I didnt know they got anywhere near that big!!!!
You're right, I hadn't thought about that - the other good possibility is that it's coyote/malamute hybrid.sore shoulder wrote:Either that or it's someones malemute.

Re: OT Here's a big dude!
Where was it the government man showed up at some farmers place looking for the mtn lion he had buried in the pasture, complete with radio collar? I know it was someplace they were bent on denying it's presence, and continued even after. Here in CO I saw a Canadian Lynx which I reported to DOW. I was told no way. That was 8 years ago. Last year they were admitting Lynx were living to the south and west of me by a good bit, so I know what I saw. They also deny we have Grizzly back in CO, but the DOW man admitted he did see a couple really large cinnamon colored black bear. Riiight.

Well you know they are reintroducing elk here, so maybe they are bringing some wolves along to make them feel at home.

Missouri DNR has a reputation of not coming clean with all the details until they are cornered.

That doesn't even remotely look like a coyote.
I wonder how many markers in DNA a dog and a coyote share....99%??? Anybody know?
This is what every coyote I've ever seen looks like.

Re: OT Here's a big dude!
I agree, not a coyote. I've seen coyotes in AZ and IL and not one looked like the wolf in the article.
Why is it the game and fish or critter cops lie through their teeth about these things? What is their agenda?

Re: OT Here's a big dude!
That wouldn't be the first wolf to be killed in MO either. A few years ago a farmer killed one that was in his livestock. It was wearing a collar and they determined it had traveled over 600 miles from somewhere in MN.
Why they are trying to make believe that's a coyote is beyond me.
