Quilted Underwear
Where in the heck can a guy buy quilted underwear? Tops and bottoms separate w/zipper on top.
Typical long underwear next to my skin is not as comfortable for me.
Looked a lot with no luck.

Re: OT: Quilted Underwear
Good question. I bought my son a set of top/bottom goose down underwear last year for Christmas from Cabelas. It's quilted and he loves it.

I was gonna say try LL Bean, Schnees, Cabelas,...

Thanks for your responses.
I'll give it another try. Hoping to avoid goose down so I can launder without concern.

Re: OT: Quilted Underwear
I have a 50-year old pair that's probably down, but is sort of two layers of satin like fabric with down or whatever 'quilted' in about a 1/4" layer between them. They're awesomely warm, vs. the ordinary "thermal" stuff. When they give out, I hope I can find decent ones like that.

Well, actually. . . they were. . . my, er, uh, belonged to. . . my sister.JohnnyDollar wrote:50 yr old pair sound really interesting from where do you got it?
There. I said it.
I feel better now.
Actually they were hers, and evidently she was pretty tall at the age she got them, because the shirt fits me pretty well, and the pants are ok but kind of "floods" in length, which is ok, since I wear tall wool socks with them anyway.
How many other guys do you know who wear their sister's underwear when deer hunting. . .
They're pretty much just like these...

Re: OT: Quilted Underwear
I don't know anybody that would ADMIT that they wear their sister's underwear.
Maybe they do and just don't say anything. I ain't gonna check.

Try merino wool, and you'll never put another artificial fabric against your skin.BlaineG wrote:I wear the Army, brown polypropylene long johns...They can be a little damp and not uncomfortable....I want to get a set of soft merino wool....I've heard those are supposed to be The Berries....

Re: Quilted Underwear
Down isn't a problem to wash. Just use something like "sport wash" or woolite and toss it in the dryer with 6-8 tennis balls and dry it on high until it's dry and fluffy again. I've washed my down coat this way several times. Works like a charm.

Re: Quilted Underwear
Blaine,
Filson in Seattle has wonderful Merino long handle underwear. Very comfy.
They had a store on 4th Ave So. Or was it First Ave? Been eight or nine years since I've been there. Haven't seen them since the old owner sold out so who knows what's happened.
Be prepared for some sticker shock though. Some of the stuff they make ain't what a fella would call cheap. Sure lasts though.

Re: Quilted Underwear
Icebreaker marino wool is all I wear anymore. My boxer-briefs year round and my winter long johns and my undershirts and sweaters are all Icebreaker. I have more than 20 items. lots of money invested. I can wear the undergarments several days in a row with zero smell. Try that with polypro.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Re: Quilted Underwear
It's easier to just order it online....between fuel to get up there, and parking, it's cheaper to just have it delivered.Catshooter wrote:Blaine,

Re: Quilted Underwear
Here in Texas, we usually hunt in T-shirt and jeans in December. It rarely gets below 20 degrees in the Dallas area, and if it gets that cold, it isn't for more than a day or 2. We don't need that type of gear around here.

We could have gone all our lives without knowing that....I can wear the undergarments several days in a row with zero smell.
