OT - Vital zone and hits on game animals - JARGON

Post by 86er »

I've noticed lately an increase in jargon used to describe the vital zone on game animals, particularly noticing a different simile used by my out-of-state hunters from different areas. There are a few more common that I've heard lately, and I attribute it to outdoor/hunting TV shows and the X generation writers starting to showcase their stuff in national magazines. Just this week I've heard the vital zones called:

Pump Station
Bread Basket
Sweet Spot
Big "O"

... and a hit on target referred to as:

"pasted"
smoked
pelted
tagged.

What'cha got where you live?

We just say "Tag You're It" on a good hit.

In my area a lung/heart shot is "in the boiler room." Could have something to do with our cold climate. :D :D

I've always heard the heart/lung shot referred to as the "frying pan shot". Because if you place your bullet there your going to have meat for the frying pan.
