ANY 9422 OWNERS HERE?

Post by kenken0269 »

I have just made the latest addition to the family and my wife is so excited   . This goes with my '52 30-30 and my Trails End 357 all Winchesters. My neighbor down the road was wanting to sell this and I couldn't stand it, I had to have it.
It is a model 94 in 22 mag. I have never owned one myself (22 mag) and I am ready to give this thing a workout. I think that I done great on the price ($400.00) also since it is nearly perfect in every way. It is the 16" version which makes me like it even more.

What do y'all have and do you like'em?

Good catch. All I've got is a standard non checkered stock 9422 I bought for my Christmas present back in 77 or 78. It's been the best .22 rifle I've ever owned so I've never gone for another one.

I almost wish that this one had the smooth stock and forearm because the checkering will not take a bump or scrape very well. I will be easy with it.

Best 22 I have ever owned, paid for itself in rabbits by now for sure.

It is usually scoped, thems rabbit heads are tiny!

I would love to have a mag version.

Nice find.

I have a 9422 and a 9422M....I will not need another .22 again. They are superb, tho, I'm not that crazy about the trigger on the 9422Magnum model.

It had the scope on it when I bought it. The previous owner said that he still had the original rear sight and that he was going to get it for me. I will take it off then, for sure.

Remember when CDNN was selling 9422 trappers (both LR and MAG) with color case for $450 just before Winchester closed the doors? <sigh>

Then I saw the missing rear sight and decided not to say anything ... yet.

I have a 9422M and a 9417, I am looking for a 9422 in 22 LR- had one years ago and stupidly traded it, next one shall be a keeper.

They simply don't make guns like this anymore.

I have had a 9422 mag for a few years, now. I have a Williams receiver sight on the back, and a slightly taller front sight on it. It's quite accurate, and never having a .22mag rifle before, I have since been very impressed with it's killing power on varmits, compared to the standard .22 long rifle. Most everything I ever shot with it, fell DRT.

I love mine, but I have to be honest. I haven't shot more than 100 rds. out of it. It's a levergun, what can I say. The hammer extension isn't there anymore because it doesn't have a carry handle. :D

Ive had 2 9422m"s both in mint condition, never shot either 1 of them, so I sold the 1 which had the checkering, now that my taste in rimfires is changeing, Im considering selling the uncheckered rifle :o dont bash me too bad, as my taste has moved towards other leverguns, mainly towards highwalls, and lowwalls, but at least they still have a lever :D

As soon as the guy I bought it from gives me the rear sight I plan on removing the "carry handle". He told me that he had it in his shop and would get it for me. If not, is there a place to get one that will be correct?

OS, I think it's called a Legacy Model. I don't remember. I know I really like the aesthetics and it's smooth as glass right out of the box.

Edited: I didn't go to the second page as I answered to OS's post. The last of page one. Now I see there's a bunch of Legacy's on page two. Duh.....

I ain't tellin'!!! OK, OK, down the road a piece, left at the old chicken coop, and up past the 3rd big oak tree there's a guy..... Seriously, I'm always on the lookout for beautiful wood. Unfortunately, I don't have a source to return to. Wish I did. I just keep looking and now and then I stumble across wood like you see pictured above.

I have a 22mag not a trapper. wish it was. I love it!!!. If it was a trapper, I would ditch my Marlin TDS in 22lr in a second. May still do so. I like it that much.

Yep. I have one each of those from CDNN. Light, accurate, function flawlessly. Case colored receivers. Could've done without the checkering on the furniture, but no matter: they're both keepers.

My 9422M Trapper will do that with open sights, with Winchester Super-X solids and hollow point, Dynapoint, and the Winchester .22WRF. Other brands and types will probably do as well, but these are good enough for my eyes at iron sight distances. Targets aren't so elusive as real critters and don't require stalking, but the Shoot-n-See target dots turn yellow and progressively disappear, and they're about the same size as your 50p coin.
