OT - Sneak Peek at new cartridge

Post by Mike Rintoul »

Folks - Here is the soon to be released .50 Grizzly Auto.

This operates out of a Glock pistol platform that one of our associates (Lone Wolf) is manufacturing. A true big bore concealed carry semi-automatic handgun.

For defensive applications the loads start at 225 grain to 260 grain with velocities from 835 fps to 950 fps. For hunting applications the loads start at 240 grain to 285 grain with velocities from 990 to 1155 fps.

These are preliminary loads. The weight may vary a little more on either end and the velocity for different weights may vary +/- what I've stated.

This should be out in late summer this year. Please - don't spread it throughout the internet. This is an exclusive sneak peek for
members of this forum that I know, trust and respect as well as value as customers.

Mike,

I won't tell anyone, I promise. Matter of fact this is one gun/cartridge combo I'd like to try out. Just for the education factor of course.

That rebated case head looks funny  though.

I don't see a whole lot of difference between that and the "50 GI" that came out 5 or 6 years ago .

I'm pretty sure Mike said it was based on a 10mm case, thus the case head size.

It should appeal to the ".44 Special" crowd who'd like a flatter and/or semiauto platform.

(Which could include me...)

"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

Reminds me of this:

I drool over a 1911 in .50 GI:

http://www.guncrafterindustries.com/model3.shtml

Not that there's anything wrong with another choice let me add!! It's all good. Especially if the options are lower cost - those Guncrafter pistols are extremely expensive.

(Pardon the edits but I was concerned that my original post was not very gracious. It's kind of Mike to show us this concept and, as I said, options are always good to have.)

Best,
Oly
