OT- Ordered a new production .41 mag blackhawk

Post by 336A »

I ordered it last Thursday so it should be here this week. I plan on carrying it when I go after wily hogs. I have some 2400 and 250 215gr SWC from Lead Heads. Does anyone have any load data for this combo I can't seem to find any.

Been using this since the mid 60s in my S&W: 20 gr. with a 210 gr. JHP is a max load, 18 gr. is just fine. If you have a cast bullet start at 15 gr..

Sounds great, did you order a 4 5/8" or a 6 1/2"?

Good choice; my favorite barrel length in a Blackhawk of any caliber.

I think 18.5gr of 2400 to 18.8 of 2400 with a 210gr. JHP is the most
accurate load in the S&W. It's DEFINITELY not as powerful as some of the
full-house loads, but I can hit what I'm aiming at with it! I want to say
accuracy is 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" at 25 yards for 5 shots. More accurate than I
am, anyway. I've got some loaded for my Blackhawk, and I'll report as soon
as I've got a chance to try it with the new grips. My Ruger wears the 6-inch tube.

I have the Blackhawk in 4 5/8 in .45 colt with a conversion cylinder in .45 ACP. I really like that barrel length. Hope you enjoy your pistol as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Just got the Ruger BH .41 magnum yesterday. The fit and finish is great as far as I can tell, however this is my first single acton and first Ruger. The new plastic grips seem to fit my hand better than the older wood grips that I handeled in the past. I can't wait to put some lead down range with this thing. It is also going to be accompanying me while out pig hunting this year. One question though, where the heck do I find a screwdriver small enough for the windage screw. That dang adjustment screw is tiny.
