Memorial Forum...

Post by Hobie »

We've been losing folks it seems, at least I have. Joe Miller suggested a memorial forum. If I set this up there would have to be some pretty strict rules about posting there, i.e. there might be only one post with obituary, photos, etc. I can't write them all, so somebody here, likely who was particularly close to that person, would need to write the basic post and then they could work with me to update/complete it as new information became available depending on circumstances.

The poll is whether or not the membership would be supportive of such a forum, as limited in scope as it might be, knowing that someday you might have to make that post. Please vote and if you have any suggestions share them here.
Sincerely,

Hobie

My concern would be that it adds another layer of work for Hobie to do. Other than that, I'm ok with the idea.

BTW - Hobie, thanks for all you do...!

Hobie:
I think that it is a great idea! Hope it doesn't add too much to the workload.

Even though it does add to your work load, a memorial offers each of us a reminder of all of us being part of something larger than ourselves and allows us each to remember a fallen brother or sister intregral to that something.

Thank you Hobie for your dedication.

How about replacing one of the tired old stickys with a memorial THREAD. Just add a short obit members could read, but NOT post their comments. I see no great purpose in a ton of folks simply tagging on when a post is added, but if a single thread, one post per honored departed were to act as a "Memorial Wall", then yeah, sure.

I think a.jack has the right idea.
I recently went over the memorial section of Gord's Board, and it was nice to remember.

Yes, a single post. Alterations/corrections have to be made via the original poster or moderator. ANY member can make the original post. Pete's is up now. Suggestions as to format?

Hobie,
I think the format you just used with Petes is fine. It pretty much says it all, simple and to the point.

Thank you Hobie , my life was also touched by TxPetes generosity . His posts will be missed and if you can keep that section as a closed to replies memorial to folks that we have lost , I think it is a good thing.
