That's an old post SFRanger, from 2008. You might find him on the Shiloh forum though. I have not seen him anywhere else.

I come from a long line of Masons on both sides of the family - my dad was a state lecturer in Nebraska then also.

I was a DeMolay as a teen-ager and was raised to Master Mason my last year of Korean War duty (1955). I went on to finish 32 degrees in Scottish Rite that year also. I joined the Shriners in early 60s to support the Crippled Childern's Hospitals.

When I got my 50 year award and lapel button from my Blue Lodge, it was a moving ceremony - it was presented to me by a Past Master of the lodge whose cancer I had cured surgically some 30 years previously.

Government programs have threatened our Crippled Children's Hospitals but we are hanging in so far and I am optimistic. I have no problem deciding which charity to send my contributions to and have always been proud of my Masonic ties.

I never came across this thread until it was revived recently. It's good to see so many Brothers on this forum!

Well I've been a busy "little" Mason since I started this thread 3 years ago. On June 25th I became the WM of my Lodge. I actually skipped being Sr Warden. Our just past WM had served 2 years in a row. The SW was physically unable to advance this year, I was asked to step up. After some serious consideration and talking to my wife and my coach I decided to accept.

Masonry, one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Yessir. I became WM Dec 3 last year and my phone has not quit ringing. As rewarding as it's been, I'm looking forward to passing the gavel.
Kind regards,
Tycer

I have no intent to turn this into a Masonic gun forum.

I just finished re-reading this thread. After being an active part of a lodge for three years and as WM this year I can say that my opinion of Masons and my opinion of Freemasonry are a bit different from each other.

Freemasonry has helped me be a better Christian, husband, father and citizen and it's tenets are pure. About all of the Masons I have met feel the same way. Most, but not all, have had great success applying the moral teachings found in Freemasonry to their life. Sadly, as my church teaches, men sin and although I'd like it to be otherwise, Freemasonry is unable to be a perfect filter of sinners. I do believe we get a lion's share of good men and if one meets a Mason you've got a much better chance of finding a just and upright man than out of the same size group of the general population. Even if that's not true and just my fancy, I am glad I've joined as are the people who come in contact with me each day.
Kind regards,
Tycer
