Finally

Post by HEAD0001 »

I finally got my little buddy a squirrel this afternoon. This was our third hunt this year. I never realized how difficult it could be to get a youngin on a squirrel. But it was all worth it. The picture should tell you that. He missed his first shot at about 6 yards. But the squirrel wasn't too smart and stuck around. He hammered it on the second shot!! Tom.

He is not my son. He is my best friend's boy. But I would do anything in the world for him. I bought him his first rifle!! On the day he was born. Tom.

Great job.

You are right.....sometimes it can be difficult getting your young'en his first. You try to make sure everything is perfect.

I bet his face was priceless. I remember a few years ago the look on my sons face and the excitement was something I wont ever forget.

Good deal.

Reminds me of the same first squirrel hunt with my son. He had his first small game license, and we'd no more than got out of the truck and crossed a ditch into a patch of woods when "BLAM" he let go with a round out of his .410 while walking right next to me, taking me by surprize. The squirrel had stood up to look at us from behind a small downed tree trunk and Ben had hit it with ONE pellet, right through the chest, at all of 15 feet. (thankfully he shot a bit high or it woulda been a mess) So after not finding another, we headed home. I cleaned and skinned it out, and fried it up for him. The boy was in heaven eating a squirrel he'd shot not an hour and a half before.
