I know that Ysabel Kid told me he joined the "1911 Club" this year too, so I figured with the end of the year in sight, it was time to see what you got!

And I guess it's OK to show what you have, even if you did get them earlier than we did...

Yup, I "pulled the trigger" (pun intended) on a used Kimber Eclipse Custom II this year, and I'm really glad that I did! OK, so I was "late" getting on the 1911 bandwagon, but I'm fully on board now!

A few weeks after that, I found one of their 22 uppers for a great price too, and it is very accurate and reliable too! I got it used and someone had stripped the finish off of it, so I threw a quick coat of black paint on it. This winter, I just may refinish it in the black and silver "eclipse" mode...

I did . Bought a Ruger 1911 and I am very pleased with it. I've been trying to decide what flavor for a few years now. It suites my needs and was affordable.

Bought a stainless Colt Government 23 years ago; traded it during a period of temporary insanity.

Now shooting a Springfield GI. It was love at first shot!

Upgraded the sights to large dot, swapped in EGW's straight mainspring housing.

The steel feels different than my old Colt stainless; denser, more solid. The gun even feels heavier, perhaps because the slide and frame are forged.

This pistol feels and shoots like a 1911 should.

No pictures, sorry. I still shoot my old AMT Hardballer (on Veteran's Day as a matter of fact). I've had it since the mid 80's. I also have my great Uncle's 1911 that he carried in France in 1918. It's been in the family for over 93 years now. I took it out and shot it last year on Veteran's Day, the first time in many years. The old war horse was still able to put 24 of 28 rounds in a 6" circle at 10 yards.

I had a Colt series 80 25 years ago and sold it because I couldn't afford to feed it back then.
Been wanting a Kimber Stainless TLE II for a few years. Was ready to buy one and couldn't find one at the gun show that day. Fever passed.
Wanted Remington R1 until I got my hands on it. Too many rough edges for me.
Now I'm scared to go to the gun show next weekend.. . . If I get my hands on a Ruger SR1911 I'm pretty sure it will follow me home. Just hate to buy a 1st-year of any model, but I have heard absolutely nothing negative about the new Rugers.

Yep, bought this early this year:

Interarms frame with a Remington Rand slide. Just like the one I built from spare parts back in 1974 when I separated from the service. Good shooter, shot a couple of matches with it... a few mag issues, but the gun was perfect! Paid the same for this'n as I sold mine for!

Then, last month, I won one of these:

Couldn't get much better than that. Left iwth a gunsmith to do an action job and make sure it feeds the variety of ammo I intend to shoot thru it. Gonna pick it up on either Monday or Tues... can't wait til Friday to go shootin'! Maybe I'll set up a target and do a range report! Actual photos when I pick it up!

Have owned several 1911's over the years but did not own one when the centennial hit. So I decided that I should own another and bought a Remington R1. Thought about a fancier one like a Kimber of some sort, but decided on the Remington because it looked simple but good, and it was available for a good price. Couldn't be happier. About 200 rnds through it up to now and it runs very well, no problems at all. Only problem is now I want another one. Probably a Springfield of some kind. Sort of want a Commander size model, but can't find one with the standard GI guide rod. Oh well, half the fun is the search.

Commander-sized, standard GI internals. Slightly better (3-dot) sights and opened up ejection port, but otherwise, pretty much original 1911.

Just a simple 1911 from Rock Island Armory, and I love it. Totally Mil Spec and it feeds anything and everything without a hitch. It has never jammed since round 2 straight out of the box, and that was without even cleaning the cosmoline off. I do need to get the sights upgraded due to my aging eyes, and Novak makes some that seem to look good to me. I need to find an armorer around here who can cut the dovetails so that the sights will go in, or maybe I'll just get a new slide with the right sights already installed. I have a Ciener conversion kit for it, and that thing puts the inexpensive Federal bulk ammo right into the bullseye as far as I can see it. I would like to take it squirrel hunting and see how I do.

I've put over 8,000 rounds of .45 ACP through my Glock 30 in 10 years. But i'm a bit different than most of you.


My Springfield has so far digested about a hundred rounds in 2 range trips, only about 40 of those being me. The others managed to convert a couple guys to the cult of the 1911.


The Champion (Commander) Springfields run well and are also available stainless. I like stainless commanders, but i decided my first would be nearly as stock as i could get.

Never met a 1911 that I didn't like. I own several but lust after a Colt that sits in Dads safe. He has a factory engraved w/letter Colt officers . That gun is beautiful.

Well, went and picked up the new Armcor import from Taylor's & Sons... thought the grips were plastic till I took 'em off... nope, real wood. But, I like the one I put on the Interarms much better, so swapped 'em out... the remembered I didn't take an actual picture yet... so here is my FREEBIE 1911 import!


I'd do a range report, but... standing in the doorway to the barn and lookin' out over the back pasture and blasting away checking function ain't really a range report! But, hey, it fired 'em all. Even tested it with some old mags I had, all good.

Only one I picked up this year was a used Springer MilSpec during the summer. I have to work on the trigger a little and will probably add an ECW bushing later but other than that it's been flawless through about 300rds with my Wilson and CMC mags.

The Glock's gone 8,000+ before I changed a recoil spring, otherwise (aside from sights) it's all original.

Chuck Taylor has a original-import Gen 1 Glock 17 9mm with (at last I heard, around 8-10 years ago) over 385,000 rounds through it changing nothing but springs. After being frozen, baked, thrown in the ocean for months, etc..

They may feel cheap, but they run.


Kyle Lamb and Larry Vickers (both former Delta Force, Larry being their armorer at one point) have more rounds through 1911s than probably all of us put together, and while they love them, won't carry them anymore for serious work. The round counts they go through in training mean they spend more time keeping the guns running that carrying them. Vickers designed the HK45 to be as "1911-like" as possible while keeping the low cost and nearly stupidproof maintenance levels of the plastic guns.

Better late than never - on me getting around to posting the picture of my acquisition this year! Actually, my wife got me this (or rather, gave me the go ahead). I've always wanted a "long-slide" version of the 1911, especially since I already own a standard length slide version as well as a "sub-compact". Figured that as long as I wasn't worried about the length of the slide, I might as well make sure it held a bunch of rounds. The answer was obvious - the Para-Ordnance "Super Hawg". This is a 6-inch barreled 1911-type pistol that holds 14+1 rounds of .45 ACP. I love it - when I can get it out of Y2K's hands!!!
