POLITICS - I've decided on my presidential vote.

Post by Old Ironsights »

Once I get done voting for Paul in the primary, and IF, he doesn't run as Libertarian/Independent, (as he says he is not planning on doing), and 100% depending on the conservative cred of his VP nominee, I will vote for McCain (big-govt VP? No vote.).

Then pray the old Manchurian has a stroke.

It's about the only way, short of a Ron Paul Presidency, that this country has 1/2 a chance of surviving the next 2 years after elections before we can throw out half the congress & senate...

O.I.,

I pretty much came to the same conclusion.

And I'm hoping that Obama and Klinton keep shooting themselves in the feet.

Maybe McCain won't be as bad as we think. Maybe???

why fear obama or clinton. the repubs had ten years of full control and look how it ended up. the middle class got TOTALLY SCREWED , while the energy and military corporations sucked the country dry. not to mention the mortage industry, can things get any worse than they are now. the dems want to take the 2nd ammendment, the repubs have went after the 1rst and 3rd. illegal immigrant flood the country, driving the wages down. corporations are rewarded thru OUR TAX DOLLARS to relocate over seas. i don't buy into the notion that one party is good and the other is evil. their both evil.

I can't help but enjoy watching the Clintons squirm. The vermin will probably pull some under handed stunt to secure the nomination, at least I hope so. Clintons will be much easier to defeat than Osama, I mean Obama.

McCain certainly wasn't my first choice but I think we are getting what we deserve after screwing up so badly. The bottom line is we can't allow the gun grabbers to have both congress and the Whitehouse. So vote, this will be the most important election of our life time. The other side is fired up and has had record turnout in the primaries. We can't afford to loose this one.

The thought of Bill Clinton chewing the fat (with another pudgy intern) in the oval office is too repugnant to allow to happen.

I think (but pray I'm wrong) that a Dem'rat will be in the White House next. I hope it's Osama only because Billery's voice is like fingernails on the chalkboard and that fake, nervous screech of a laugh is so phony. She's a vile, dishonest skank that will be a puppet for the Dem'rat machine (but aren't they all)....... At least if Obama gets in, the commie Race Baiters like Jackson will not have a leg to stand on anymore.

These days voting will not be enough, I guess it never was, and our founding fathers warned us about it. I'm talkin' stepin' up and actually getting involved with your local republican party, I really don't see any way around this. We've all got a million

excuses to not be involved, but really, can we afford blind trust with this party anymore? It'd be a beautiful thing if every lever gunner here was takin' over their local party. Somebody took it over, we have to take it back.

Gettin' way too sketchy to just sit on the sidelines and cheer. We all must act.

I'm sorry but I'm really disgusted with the GOP. The final straw for me was when they shut down their switchboard during the illegal alien debate.

I wish Newt would use his group to gather critical mass and when it has critical mass, and not before, turn it into a political party to replace the GOP.

This election is strictly the lesser of evils for me but that doesn't mean it isn't important to vote and get the least offensive one in. Wat too much at stake here.

I've already voted for Paul in the Primary.

I'll write him in in the General.

:)

I'll write in Paul or if Hillary gets the not I'll vote for her - to protect what little freedom we have left. Sorry to differ with the 'less of two evils' crowd, but I still don't trust McCain, and the Republicans will NOT oppose the socialist big government stuff he will push for, whereas if Hillary is elected, at least the Republicans will try to stall her plans somewhat.
If it came down to McCain vs. Obama, I'll just puke.

The ONLY way McCain would get my vote is if he became a loud supporter of the FAIR TAX, and if he gave me reason to trust his pro-gun 'conversion' is real.

I don't trust the Manchurian either. And if he doesn't pick somebody I can trust as VP to replace his sorry old butt when he croaks I won't vote for him.

But if he DOES pick a good VP, there are pretty good odds the VP will get to be the real deal.

Rather have that than the Black Messiah or the Harpy.

But no good VP, then it's on to crucifying the latest messianic pretender.

As much as I'm disgusted with and as much as the GOP has betrayed us, we cannot risk having a democrat congress and Whitehouse. Every bit of Pelosi San Francisco morals based legislation would get rubber stamped in a democrat Whitehouse. We simply can't do that to our kids or to the guys who died making this country great.

When I first voted at 21 I voted Democrat because the entire county was run by the good old boys network, and if you wanted to get anything done, you better be a Democrat!! That is the last time I voted for a Democrat. Now I am faced with a dilema!!! I cannot in good conscience vote forMcCain. To me he is totally useless. I will not, even on the threat of death, vote for Hillary. That leaves me Obama. The Republicans are making it very difficult for me to vote for them, because living on Social Security, in this economy is killing me. With the price of gas, I have to curb any long trips. With food prices going through the roof, I am very selective at the grocery store. I have not ate beef, (except for hamburger), in almost 6 months. I live on oatmeal, cereal, fruit, and tons of chicken, and not always chicken breasts. I can't take much more of this!!!! I don't think Obama can screw me any worse than the Republicans have. I am going to vote Democrat for the second ti,e is my life, I am 65 years old. That is along time. But I cannot survive much longer under this administration. I have had to sell all my leverguns, to make ends meet. I am going to sell my custom 10/22 this week to get money for car repairs. That leaves my 2 pistols and a Mossberg Bolt Action rifle,(which will probably go too!!! Sorry for the rant, but I am at my wits end!!!! Art

Vote for the lesser of two evils or honor those who have lost their lives by voting for the very thing they swore to defend (and it wasn't the republican party). People who have gone before me have faced losing their lives, I face losing to the democrats, I'm over my fear of the democrats and will vote for Ron Paul and write him in if I have to. If you must fear something, fear the party that betrayed you, and fear what becomes of a nation when it settles for anything less than Liberty.

No good way out of this, but being involved and pushing for conservatisim is better than laying around complaining

My sister's political bent is more along the lines that she thinks Hilliary's sh%& doesn't stink. She is terrified that Obama will get the nomination. She says that the establishment in Congress will do all they can to put roadblocks in the way of the "outsider", if he does get elected. She also fears that having him on the ticket is like giving the election to the Republicans.
McCain makes me want to gag, so far. He may say what he thinks you want to hear (don't they all!!), but I get this feeling that after I see him on TV, I need to search my back for the knife that is stuck there , once I turn my back. Of course, with Hilliary, the feelings worse.
Still not sure what I am going to do, come election day, except for voting.

I dunno bout that. I have no trouble visualising McCain pushing liberal judges. He pushes a liberal agenda. Maybe a bus will fall on all three of them.

I'll vote for the man I'd like to see in each office based on MY opinion of their ability & desire to bring about the changes I'd like. That pushes McCain out since he's a liberal.

AJMD, I pretty much agree with the editorial you posted by Pastor Baldwin. McCain is such a maverick you never know what he will do (thats putting it kindly). If he were President, I don't think he would bow to Republican Party pressure very much. And if the Republican party chooses to support him, then it is no longer the party we want.

I recently changed from a Democrat to a Republican so I could vote for Thompson in the primary here in CA. He didn't even survive that long.

At the risk of subjecting myself to a public "flaming", I have to say I rather like Obama. I hope he gets the Democratic nomination.

If McCain looses, the Republican party will most likely keep its morals in place, and combat the Dems. If McCain wins, then we will have a RINO as well as a Democratic controlled congress. Bad news.

She will actually be the front woman for Bill Clinton. And he'll finish the job he started and destroy this country.

Do we have time to pass a petition to get Reagan on the ballot again?? A dead man cannot do worse than the lot we've got now.
Already been done. When it looked like Ron Paul was going to win Louisiana (which must have thrown the powers that be into a panic, making it near impossible to maintain the media blackout), all the other candidates threw together in one uncommitted slate with the Gipper at the head to defeat Paul:

http://www.gatortesting.net/prolifeprof ... _3-5-6.pdf
http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/printthread.php?t=179165

I've found it a lot easier to relax after I realized it doesn't make a darn bit of difference who wins this election. We're equally screwed no matter who it is, no matter who the veep is....

This country's been done for, this is just death throes, and all my achin' ain't going to change a thing.

Y'all on both sides that get worked up over it, you're not paying enough attention. There is no difference.
Agree. The Republic is dead.

For what it's worth, I'll be writing in Ron Paul.

This country has been going down the tubes for a long time. Vote for who you think will help us all keep our "Right to bear Arms." If we see our "Gun Rights' being threatend more than they already are, we need to take whatever action deemed necessary to include hiding firearms that cannot be traced. There are many ways of doing this...
We may have to use them on NATO troops in our own streets or perhaps the Chinese??? at some point. I have 24.4 acres adjacent to a wilderness area and keep myself combat ready...both physically and mentally. I have a pre-64 Model 70 '06 for my "long distance work" and my M14 for close up and long distance. Also, my 1911 45 ... My neighbor has 2 fully automatic weapons, but the government has got his number, for he had to register them due to them being fully auto. Most of my weapons cannot be traced. I'm in my mid fifties and my kids are grown, so bring it on. None of us are getting out of this world alive anyway. Let's hope it doesn't come to this, but as others have related, it may be too late regardeless of who gets in office. Support the NRA and your gun rights.

I'm sorry I started ranting about this stuff, it gets my blood pressure up. Apparently it does the same for the rest of you too. We are really in a tough spot, there's no two ways about that.

If it must be a Democrat I agree I would rather have Obama than the she-male. Either one is going to appoint liberal judges for sure and there is a reason they haven't been talking up gun control with all the recent campus shootings. What they would do with guns isn't what the people want and their position has cost the Dems elections before thus they are just keeping quiet with the hope that no one notices.

I think a protest vote or a Ron Paul write in will guarantee the worst result. This isn't a reflection on Ron Paul, the simple truth is that he doesn't have a chance to win so voting for him is like a vote for your worst nightmare.

When it comes to McCain, he is a rino. I don't agree with him on a lot of issues, some really important like the border. The bottom line with McCain is that there is at least a chance he will do the right thing when it comes to judges and he might stand up to the wacko congress and veto some of the left wing stuff that is sure to come. With Obama or the she-male there is no chance that they would stand up and do the right thing.

I really can't figure out what happened to the Republican party. It used to stand for something. Now it is full of perverts chasing young boys or trying to get their jollies in airport bathrooms, then there are all the crooks taking birbes. I'm so sick of it and so upset off about it. Even with that said I am going to vote for McCain because he is the only one that might do the right thing. I'm not at all happy about it and I'm tired of being taken for granted by the GOP but there is just too much at stake right now to do anything but stop the Dems.

After this election I think we all need to organize and send them a message, not one more nickle or one more vote until they clean house and get back to core principals.

Broken record time, or obligatory Paul facts. Here's the water, have a drink. :? Ron Paul is a nut? He's not presidential material? Who said he couldn't win? Oh yeah, Fox News, and who did they predict to win when this stuff started? Rudy. Who's left?

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

"Oh but he didn't vote for the Iraq War", but he did offer this, a C-O-N-S-T-I-T-U-T-I-O-N-A-L response OCTOBER 15 2001.
Letters of marque and reprisal: This constitutional tool can be used to give President Bush another weapon in the war on terrorism. Congress can issue letters of marque against terrorists and their property that authorize the President to name private sources who can capture or kill our enemies. This method works in conjunction with our military efforts, creating an incentive for people on the ground close to Bin Laden to kill or capture him and his associates. Letters of marque are especially suited to the current war on terrorism, which will be fought against individuals who can melt into the civilian population or hide in remote areas. The goal is to avail ourselves of the intelligence of private parties, who may stand a better chance of finding Bin Laden than we do through a conventional military invasion. Letters of marque also may help us avoid a wider war with Afghanistan or other Middle Eastern nations.

And this is a lever gun forum so here is what the "nut" says about guns.

*"A gun in the hand of a law-abiding citizen serves as a very real, very important deterrent to an arrogant and aggressive government. Guns in the hands of the bureaucrats do the opposite. The founders of this country fully understood this fact, it's a shame our generation has ignored it."

*"The time has come to stop politicizing gun ownership, and start promoting responsible use of firearms to make America a safer place. Guns are here to stay; the question is whether only criminals will have them."

*"Tortured interpretations of the Second amendment cannot change the fact that both the letter of the amendment itself and the legislative history conclusively show that the Founders intended ordinary citizens to be armed. The notion that the Second amendment confers rights only upon organized state-run militias is preposterous; the amendment is meaningless unless it protects the gun rights of individuals."

*"Gun control historically serves as a gateway to tyranny. Tyrants from Hitler to Mao to Stalin have sought to disarm their own citizens, for the simple reason that unarmed people are easier to control. Our Founders, having just expelled the British army, knew that the right to bear arms serves as the guardian of every other right. This is the principle so often ignored by both sides in the gun control debate. Only armed citizens can resist tyrannical government."

*"The senseless and horrific killings last week on the campus of Virginia Tech University reinforced an uneasy feeling many Americans experienced after September 11th: namely, that government cannot protect us. No matter how many laws we pass, no matter how many police or federal agents we put on the streets, a determined individual or group still can cause great harm. Perhaps the only good that can come from these terrible killings is a reinforced understanding that we as individuals are responsible for our safety and the safety of our families."

* Mr. Speaker, I rise to restore the right the founding fathers saw as the guarantee of every other right by introducing the Second Amendment Protection Act. This legislation reverses the steady erosion of the right to keep and bear arms by repealing unconstitutional laws that allow power-hungry federal bureaucrats to restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

*Specifically, my legislation repeals the five-day waiting period and the "instant" background check, which enables the federal government to compile a database of every gun owner in America. My legislation also repeals the misnamed ban on "semi-automatic" weapons, which bans entire class of firearms for no conceivable reason beside the desire of demagogic politicians to appear tough on crime. Finally, my bill amends the Gun Control Act of 1968 by deleting the "sporting purposes" test, which allows the Treasury Secretary to infringe on second amendment rights by classifying a firearm (handgun, rifle, shotgun) as a "destructive device" simply because the Secretary believes the gun to be "non-sporting."

*"Thomas Jefferson said "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; ...that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." Jefferson, and all of the Founders, would be horrified by the proliferation of unconstitutional legislation that prevents law-abiding Americans form exercising their right and duty to keep and bear arms. I hope my colleagues will join me in upholding the Founders' vision for a free society by cosponsoring the Second Amendment Restoration Act."

*"Arm Pilots: It is unthinkable to leave pilots defenseless in the cockpit after the events of September 11th. We trust pilots to operate multimillion dollar machines filled with human cargo, yet incredibly we do not trust them with firearms. While airport security certainly can be strengthened, pilots must have the choice to carry weapons as a last line of defense against future hijacking attempts."

We do this NOW. The RINOS don't give a rip if they lose to democrats, they ALL have their bases covered, same as big business donating to both parties. It ain't repubs vs. dems, it's us vs. government, always has been.

John McCain is a loose cannon. He will ultimately betray and harm those who vote for him.

A candidate has been presented who has an outstanding congressional record, an impeccable history of honesty and family values, and a platform and stance on the issues of our day that is based unerringly in the words of the Constitution itself.

Ron Paul is an honest man of unquestionable integrity.

...and he is called a "nut".

John McCain has a history that extends out over 30 plus years of being involved in graft and bribery. Does anyone remember that he took money under the table and was investigated for being involved in what was up to that time the biggest banking rip-off in history? His primary constituency and financial support comes from lobbyists and corporate slush funds. One of his major contributors is a front controlled by George Soros.

...and this is the man that you believe would be better than a Democrat? You believe that this man would nominate something other than corporate toadies to sit on the bench of the Supreme Court?

Incredible. It is simply incredible that anyone could look at the record and either consider Ron Paul a "nut" or conclude that John McCain might be of suitable character to be President of the United States.

McCain will harm this nation, and what's more, he has every intention of doing so.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

My wife and I voted for McCain in the primary, and we'll vote for him in November.

You said it well - THIS is what happened to the Republican Party. They allege to stand for the Constitution and limited government, then call the candidate who best represents these ideals a 'nut'.

The Republican party has abandoned the Constitution, and abandoned principle itself. Sad, but unfortunately true.

If voting could really change anything, it would be illegal.
Idahoser, that was my sig line for a while, use it all you want.

As will Obama and Clinton, they are the two sides to the same coin.

Personally I don't see enough difference between McCain, Obama, and Clinton to discuss. They are all corrupt life time career politicians. They are guilty of everything bad you can think of.
In this election I can't even think of any of them as the "lesser of two evils".

Since no third party candidate stands a chance of willing, and no write in does either, it simply comes down to this; do I vote for McCain and take a chance he won't totally FUBAR this country, or vote for Obama/Clinton who will without a shadow of a doubt FUBAR this county.

I'm irreparably disgusted with the whole two-party system. I voiced my opinion on an earlier thread that HAVING ONLY 2 OPTIONS IS NOT "LIBERTY"!! When need more options! Especially since at any given time the republicans can void out the primaries by convincing Romney to "suspend" his campaign thus not having to share the delegates he has won with the other contenders. In other words, regardless of who you vote for in the primaries, the republicans can manipulate the system so that your vote doesn't count. CROOKED POLITICS...pure and simple! And until we change the system, we WILL NOT TRULY HAVE THE FREEDOM to vote for the best candidate.

I really feel for you Art. At this point, I have no clue what I'm gonna do about the election. I may even vote Democrat just for you brother. At least then my vote would not be wasted.

I'm praying for you.

Sincerely,
bogie

It's better than the one party systems most countries have.

Of course. But I'm not concerned with how our system compares to others. That just sets us up for mediocrity. I'm concerned with how our system compares with "what it could be with just a little common sense".

"what it could be with just a little common sense"

Never gonna happen. We tried common sense in the 1950s. Nobody liked it.

no, no more excuses for the bush administration. every piece of legistatation was done at the expense of the middle class, to profit corporate america. they could have thrown us a few crumbs, but didn't ; so we now have the landslide victory of the democratic party. thank you, george bush, it's your fault!
