What do you know about the world of Beretta?

Post by hightime »

I have at least six Berettas, some are made by Uberti. I thought I heard they owned them and also other Italian companies. Pedersoli maybe. Do you know?

Beretta is now the parent company of Uberti. At one time Uberti and several other companies, Pietta ect were all in one town in Italy right down the street from each other. Doc Carlson visited the plants and did a write up on it and he has some great pictures of the different factories.

Beretta's never owned Pedersoli.
Pedersoli has made guns for Uberti imported by Stoeger, but remains its own company.

Pedersoli is a whole seperate company. Pedersoli and Uberti did make a deal whereby Pedersoli would make barreled Sharps actions for Uberti (uberti does not build barrels to the "match" quality that Pedersoli does) to finish and stock to be marketed under the Uberti label. Uberti then in turn built some hiwall actions for Pedersoli and they then fitted those actions with their match grade barrels and wood. Pedersoli made a run of those in double set trigger match grade rifles, but have been slow sellers.

Well in my persuit of old West guns, I ended up with a lot of repros. I couldn't afford the real thing in condition to shoot a lot. Beretta, Uberti and Pederosoli got me good. Real good.

Buck,
You sure on that Stoeger thing?
Stoeger's been the import company for the US Uberti outfit, but I haven't heard about any company re-naming.

Stoeger has been around for a LOOOONG time. Were they bought out by Uberti? I know they are a subset of Benelli now.

Hobie

Stoeger wasn't bought out by Uberti as far as I know. Or vice versa.
Stoeger has been positioned to be the import arm for most of the umbrella for quite a while, different company from Uberti but owned by Beretta, as they told me.

Aye, Stoeger been around for a LONG time... not bought out by Uberti, was a sub of Benelli before they purchased Uberti.
In the 1990s, the Stoeger company was purchased by Finnish rifle manufacturer Sako. In 2000, Sako was acquired by Beretta Holding S.p.A. At that time, Stoeger Industries was placed under the ownership of Benelli USA, where it remains today as a member of the Benelli USA family of companies.

"Most people don’t realise that Tikka has been owned by Sako since the 1980s, with Sako itself being owned by Beretta since 2000......... They are manufactured by the same technicians using the same state-of-the-art machinery and the same quality of materials that are used for Sako firearms."
