Nephew shot in Aurora

Post by M. M. Wright »

Had a nephew shot in the Aurora CO theater last night. He caught a shotgun blast in the hip and thigh that put 8 shot (of unknown size) in him. Surgeons removed 4 and left 4. As I understand it the prognosis is good for recovery. Not sure if anyone knows whether lead, steel or whatever shot. So many do not understand the difference between shotgun projectiles and rifle/pistol bullets. So many lacking in education. One of his cousins even commented on Facebook that her cousin had been shot 8 times. Will have to talk to her daddy about some training, and she has a masters degree.

Ditto

That "tactical" idiot armed himself (legally) with an AR-15, what looked like a Rem 870, and two Glocks, at least one a .40S&W.

(I say "tactical", because he was suited up in tactical body armor, gas mask & what I presume to be A.L.I.C.E. gear to carry extra mags, which the DPD was showing the receipt for, from http://www.tacticalgear.com for $300-odd a few weeks ago, making him one of their "elite operators", I guess.)

Thanks for all the prayers guys. He is home from the hospital and resting though in a lot of pain. He and his new wife are quite shaken but are strong Christians who will recover from this. Evidently he jumped up from his seat just in time to catch the blast in his hip and thigh instead of head and shoulder. Angels working!

The theater had no choice and shouldn't be blamed. Colorado has the concealed carry law which specifically stipulated no smaller community can pass more restrictive legislation but both Denver and Aurora have more restrictive laws - which they claim to be legal because they are "home rule cities" - whatever that means - and our very left leaning state supreme court agreed (well - in a tie vote) giving those two cities the OK to ignore state-wide laws on the appeal - ?make sense? - is this how a democratic republic should work and allow not only individuals but entire cities to ignore state law - legally passed by our legislature.

Thus, the state-wide allowing concealed carry only applies to the state of Colorado - except in Denver & Aurora - go figure - it seems to me that if "self rule cities" can opt out of complying with state law - they should not get anything from the state such as roads, bridges, etc. - but, it just seems our supreme court states we can allow such cities to ignore state laws with no cost for that "privilege"

At any rate, it is not fair to blame the theater when it was a city wide mandate that made the entire city a "gun-free" zone - practically a license for the shooter to do what he did.

Put the blame where it belongs - our left leaning liberal media is more likely to blame individual businesses than corrupt governments at every level.

I only live 70 miles away from Denver but have not been there since they passed the gun restrictive laws - if all withdrew from doing any business with any Denver organization - think that would be noticed - I don't - they seem to think they are above the common citizen and laws as it suits them.

He's in good hands medically at my Alma Mater CU Medical School - prayers for rapid recovery and thanks for not getting an immediate lethal wound as so many did.
