Re: Prairiedog Ready...
And I happen to know where theres a dogtown you can access anytime you want and shoot for hours with 22, bigger guns put em down the hole... Just please brush up on your bovine and rodent ID charts
Re: Prairiedog Ready...
I have a large Prairie Dog town that can be seen from Google Earths satellite photo's at the family farm. And this is what I take Prairie Dog hunting until I get the new scope for my Marlin 795. My 10-22 wasnt accurate enough and I traded it for my Marlin 336 30-30.
I have taken them as far out as 262 yards. But you have to be patient and only the real close ones go down the holes but they do with a .22 also. If you go to these coordinates on google earth you can see it for yourself.

Re: Prairiedog Ready...
It's over on my state lease at the end of the Kasepier oil... anytime you guys feel like you got ammo to burn, just go in the gate , follow the two track a mile east to and then about 3/4 mile north, you can't miss that dog town.
And give me a holler if you need some company.
Going to try and poison it again after Oct 1 sometime.. maybe with my new neighbor working on his side we can get a handle on the thing.

Re: Prairiedog Ready...
Yeh, but the black and red ones are proctected species... can't be shooting them.
Give me a holler sometime when you got a minute to run up, if nothing is shaking big here I'll show zactly where to get to the project.

Re: Prairiedog Ready...
I have a large variety I want to try in this gun to see what works best at the best range(s).
What's the point of a 2.5x10 variable if you can't reach out there to max range for the caliber?

Re: Prairiedog Ready...
If the cows are not in the draw west of the north windmill you'll have all the distance a 22 can handle and then some, and a target rich environment. And the new owner across the north fence don't care if you shoot across that way either.
Re: Prairiedog Ready...
For non-game, prairie dogs are my favorite. Usually though I don't get too many shots with a .22LR before they go into hiding. With this however, they don't ever seem to figure out that they are being shot at.
Re: Prairiedog Ready...
Shooting prairie dogs to 200 yds with a 22 they'll stay up a bunch longer and you'll get more kill, than you will with the centerfires.

You talking about the area NE of County Line road?
I'm hoping to try for Sunday afternoon for a first attempt...
