CVA makes a centerfire rifle now?

Post by awp101 »

Looks like they do (not to mention it looks like a H&R/NEF/Marlin Handi Rifle):

Why not just get the Handi Rifle and go first class?

Handi Rifle is already going well and has the bugs worked out. Sorry CVA, but Me Too doesn't always work. If the price is better and the extra barrels could be bought without fitting, then it would be worth it.

I bought one a year ago. .44 magnum. Killed a deer with it last season. It's a well-made rifle.

On the photos on-line it appears to have better fit between metal and stocks and it is over a pound lighter than the Handi. I have nothing against the Handi and have one in 223 that I haven't even shot yet. One of my loal dealers is waiting on a shipment of the 35 Whelen guns since Louisiana has made the decision to allow 35 cal and larger single shots with an exposed hammer legal for our "primitive weapons season" on deer. If they look and handle as well as I think I will likely purchase one since they will be even a little cheaper than the Handi for now. Yes, the interchangable barrel feature would be nice but I already have the Handi if I want to do that....

I bought the .44 magnum because I already have a Marlin 1894 and a Ruger Super Blackhawk and I reload .44 magnum. But .44 M factory ammunition is readily available and not too expensive. Can't say that for .35 Whelen.
