Pitchy,
That's pretty cool. But you forgot to sign it.
I tried that once years ago on a car hood I found out in the desert. Didn't turn out so good.
Joe
Oh, no the hood wasn't still on the car.

That's a nice design, Pitchy, but I am conflicted.

Re: Bullet Art
The older Indian picture you posted is signed by Dot and Ernie of the famed 'Dot and Ernie Lind' duo. Dot and Ernie were trick shooters that put on shows for Winchester back in the 'old' days when these events were popular. They were friends of my grandparents and often shot recreationally on my grandparents farm. My mother remembered them well. In 1972 my mother gave me a book titled 'The Complete Book of Trick and Fancy Shooting' written by Ernie Lind. It is an interesting read, and he goes into detail on how to do those bullet paintings. His were done from memory and at high speed with pre-loaded sets of rifles, but only after many years of practice.
A year or so ago, much of Ernie Linds' stuff, including his guns, were sold off at high dollar prices. I imagine that old Lind bullet painting you posted is worth some good money to the right collector.
Of course, if you keep at it ......?

Very cool Brother Pitchy....there is a place in Shreveport (Herby K's) that displayed many of these. The owner was a Winchester Exhibition Shooter......he said he shot so many that he did not use a "pattern".....I don't think I could do that good even with a pattern....

Re: Bullet Art
Pitchy cheated.
He used a high tech bench rest, and if you look under his legs you can see some kind of fancy body support.
Well done mate. If you can keep 100 rounds on a chalk line there isn't much wrong with your shooting.
Ironwood is right, Mt Rushmore would look great if you use a big enough sheet of tin and enough bullets.

Re: Bullet Art
Very good shooting, Pitchy!
Olde West Gun & Loan here in Redding, CA has an old bullet art indian head displayed that was shot at the now long-gone former location of the Redding Gun Club many years ago by one of the prominent shooters who toured the country back in the day. I believe it was Ad Topperwein, but i don't recall for sure. It looks very similar to yours! Say, can you do a '55 Chevy Nomad?

Re: Bullet Art
My Dad had one of those done by a Remington exhibition shooter. I don't know what happened to it. I can't recall seeing it after we moved to town in 1957. I remember the shootering saying that no one would know that it was shot at ten feet or fifty yards in twenty years.
I've thought about trying that ever so often.

Re: Bullet Art
It seems like about 20 years ago or so some company was making DIY kits for these. It came with the picture to be done on cardboard that you shot at while the tin or maybe even cooper sheet was underneath. When you were done shooting you pulled to sheet out and hung it up.
Nice job Pitchy!

Re: Bullet Art
It is fun to do but there was no skill involved in mine.
My 40X .22 was used in the Olympics back in the 60`s.
And the 36X scope and benchrest make it a pretty sure thing.
Just lots of reloading that single shot rifle. I used Eley Benchrest Gold ammo @ $12 a box.
I posted a paper target over the metal backing that I enlarged from a picture in the American Rifleman of one Topperwine did.
Have fun!!
