Wanted to say hello from Victoria Tx. Just ordered a Rossi 16" 44 mag. Looking forward to reading, chatting and informing myself in the forum.

WELCOME...!!!
Tell us MORE about yourself.
Sorry you had to 'get into guns' at this unfortunate political time.
Most of us here are managing to enjoy our recreational/hobby with leverguns, yet still manage to participate politically enough to try to preserve our freedoms.
Unfortunately, our 'hobby' is NOT protected under the Second Amendment, which was essentially written so the 'masses' could have 'military-style' firearms with which to assure that we'd not follow the rest of the world into their genocidal police-state socialism.
Too bad our 'hobby' had to be at the center of a political firestorm, but I guess that gives it more real-world importance than if it were just some quaint hobby...

Re: New Member
and Welcome to THE Forum from north TX.
One word of advice. In the past, Rossis have been known to have some wide variances in chamber and bore diameters, not a "bad" thing, but do a chamber and bore cast so you make sure you get the "right" sized bullets. The good thing... once you determine the bore diameter, they all seem to shoot well. I've got 3 Rossis, 2 in .38/357 and one in .45 Colt.
If you're the least bit put off by any roughness, don't be, it's easily taken care of. If you're handy with hand tools, you can get Nate Kiowa Jones' DVD on the Rossi '92 for slickin' up the action and hints on dis- & assembly. Another source is Marauder's Rifle & Pistol Hints.
You'll love the power and accuracy. Great little hog guns; handy, convenient and plenty of smack-down!

Re: New Member
BTW, you have one of the most practical leverguns out there. If you don't have a Super Blackhawk or Redhawk to go with it, that's the next agenda-item...!Armando1228 wrote:Just ordered a Rossi 16" 44 mag.
A 'set' of .44 caliber guns can pretty much cover 90% of one's needs...
(.444 Marlin rifle for 'big' game, .44 Mag carbine for whitetail and 'ranch' use, .44 Mag revolver for 'field' use, and .44 Special DA snubby for CCW)

Re: New Member
Welcome, Armando. Be advised, there is occasionally plenty of politics here, but we try not to mix the threads.
I started here with a Rossi 92 in 357, as I wanted to get into Cowboy Action shooting. I didn't understand that I was secretly addicted to 19th century firearms until it was all explained to me here.
Now, I have a Colt Model 1851 repro cap and ball revolver, an actual model 1894 Steven's Favorite .22 (made in 1906), an actual Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor (madein 1888), a Marlin 1895 Cowboy, and a Remington Rolling block on the way!!!!
I give you fair warning, once you start seeing the guns some of these folks own, their skill with gunsmithing, their historical knowledge and their general cantankerousity, you will be hooked.
