Good bye Funny Man, Johnathan Winters 4-12-13

Post by 2ndovc »

The world had lost a incredibly funny and talented man.

Jonathan Winters passed away at 87 years old today.
A WWII vet and to me one of the funniest guys that ever lived has left us.

Rest in peace Sir!

You RAN to the TV back in the day, if you heard that Johnathan Winters was on!
I'm sure his new audience will enjoy too....

Jonathon walked up beside me at the Ventura Gun show a couple years ago. I had my arm in a sling from shoulder surgery and he looked at me and said, " The wounded men are allowed to come along too." It doesn't make any sense but it doesn't have to from Jonathon. Great comedian!

Yep, one of the great comedians. Always a bit hard for some to "get" some of his skits... but always funny. R.I.P.

Between him and similar-vintaged Tim Conway, they could keep you laughing...!

And he could prove he was sane. He had the release papers that said so.

True genius in the old school where you could be funny without insults or porn. One of my all time favorites.

One of our greatest Americans, and an absolute comic genius. He could make me laugh so hard I'd wet my pants.

Didn't know this but I always suspected he was crazy.

He was genuinely funny without relying on toilet humor -- the kinda funny you can let your 10 year old daughter listen to.

Robin Williams is humorous but he ain't a patch on J.Winters.

He was always my dad's favorite comedian, funny without a foul mouth.

I used to watch his syndicated show, every Saturday, or Sunday, afternoon.

Wikipedia has a good bit of information on Mr. Winters:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Winters
In a 1991 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Winters likened the entertainment industry to the Olympics, with actors standing on boxes to receive gold, silver and bronze medals. Winters claims, "I think my place is inside the box, underneath the guy receiving the gold medal. They're playing the national anthem and I'm fondling a platinum medallion."
