Thoughts
Finding used brass has been a pain by me. One gun shop sells all their spent shells from the range to a scrapper and the other gun shop is starting to reload so they wont sell their shells anymore.
So I made them an offer, I would trade some primers for shells. He gave me a call yesterday and said he would be willing to do 2000 small rifle primers and 1000 small pistol primers for a 5 gal bucket of shells from the pistol range (mostly .45, .9mm, and 38) He said there is alot of 9mm in there which is what I'm after. I could sell the .45 to a buddy. Going through with that deal would leave me with 1000 pistol primers, and 1000 small rifle primers. Any on think I should go for it?

Re: Thoughts
A rock & a hard place: Eventually have primers & no brass, or brass & no primers.
I would suggest you first research the astronomical prices primers are bringing - then instead, place a WTB ad in the classifieds of a few gun forums, starting here.

Re: Thoughts
The primers can be used for several different cartridges so have the advantage of versitility. I would keep them and keep searching/scrounging for the 9mm brass.

Re: Thoughts
Sounds like you need to buy a .45 3leg

Re: Thoughts
Tell 'em to hit the road and go eat some manure. So what they are telling you is that they are willing to trade $20 worth of scrap brass for $125 worth of primers. (what's wrong with this picture?)
There's billions of pieces of brass out there but only so many primers. Primers are good for 1 shot and brass can be used over and over, over many years.
You need to do some leg work and find brass. Its out there...be more creative.---------------Sixgun

Re: Thoughts
Agreed, pass. Brass can be reloaded many times, you don't "need" 1000's, you don't even "need" 500. I'd rather have 100 brass and those 3000 primers than all the 9mm brass in the county. And unless you are in Antarctica it just can't be that hard to find 100 or 2 in brass.
Top that off...... like stated he's pretty much lookin to scam you.

Re: Thoughts
Keep your primers....No offense, but, you are not looking hard enough for 9mm brass...Heck, try running a WTB ad in our classified forum.

Seriously, you can go LOTS of places and find 9mm brass. Brass is also re-useable many times, whereas primers give you only ONE bang per primer.3leggedturtle wrote:Sounds like you need to buy a .45 3leg

Re: Thoughts
Post deleted after I saw there are already sources for 9mm brass mentioned above.

Re: Thoughts
Around my area you can't even find primers. I would say not to get rid of the primers under any circumstances and just look else where for the brass.
