I took these pics at 8:35 tonight and it was about half way to darkness. I could barely see these foxes with the naked eye. Distance is 135 yards with the spotting scope set on 12X. I used a 10 cent Nikon camera to take a pic of the lens of the s. scope. Glass sure has come a long way since I was a youngster.........still am
Mom and Dad were playing with their 3 kits. I watched 'em for a good half hour 'till they took off. I kept looking over my shoulder expecting Nath to show up with a loaded levergun.------------ ---6
Mom on the left with 2 of the little ones.
Mom with the 2 kits on the move.
Dad on the lookout.........at me.

Re: The Brightness Of Leupold Spotting Scope
shooting with a camera, it adjusts the exposure, so whatever scope you have it will create the same brightness for the pic. It can also make moonlight look like high noon. You can also take this pic and make it as bright as you want with software.
If you shoot two pictures with the same exposure settings, through two different scopes, and compared them, you might have something.
I had some Steiner binos, at dusk things looked brighter through it than with the naked eye. Also my Swift scope does that.

Thanks El Chivo. I learn somethin' new everyday. Guess I'm stuck in the last century. Don't even have a cell phone.-------------6
Re: The Brightness Of Leupold Spotting Scope
Several years ago I was playing with some Tasco binos and took them outside at night. Without the binos I could just barely make out the dark shapes in the pasture that I knew were cows. With the binos I could not only see the cows clearly but tell which were spotted and which were solid colored.

I "had" a Leupold WindRiver (not an American-made Leupold) spotting scope. Not bright, and it was fuzzy and dark at the max setting....I gave it away...
