That wouldn't be hard. Just take some small diameter black tube and drill some air holes in it. Lay it around the bottom and put a compressor to it. Wouldn't be that hard.

Throw in some water plants for the fishies and wahla you got it.

The Captain or Gordon Lightfoot was a "crabby..."? I met Lightfoot in 1972 before a concert--the height of his popularity/career. Broke the waiting line to go inside the college gym to help my brother secure his ordered tickets. Lightfoot was just starting sound check and rehearsal. I sat there not ten feet from him as he went through a long medley of his entire set list - chatting with me about how"s it sound...and I gave him and his guys feedback - "need a little more treble on the guitar, your voice is a little muddled, the speakers over there sound a bit off," etc, and he took it in great humor and gratitude. He solicited my opinion several times and appeared very warm and friendly. One of my musical heroes, I was on cloud nine. My brother, the ticket gal and I were the only others in the entire gym. We listened to his full rehearsal, and returned to our place in line outside and went back in for concert #2! One of those great experiences and lifelong memories. He definitely had an off period of poor health (tales of his impending demise abounded for years) and in the middle of that time in a newpaper interview he appeared quite "tired of it all, the road grind..." and generally p***y. As a guitarist-singer myself, at one point knew maybe forty or fifty of his tunes. Ls so many lyrics, many of those somehow aren't there any more

but most of the chords are still there!!

Oh yes, IIRC he did play a great rendition of Edmund Fitzgerald to everyone's delight. The way memories of youth often are, that song like most of his is so evocative of that particularly fun period of my life--you know, that time before the real world creeps in! There's an entire BBC-hosted concert of his on You Tube the same year, just about verbatim to "my" concert.

I`m not building it as a joke with the intention of sitting at the bottom of the pond.

But living in Wisconsin it made big news & a horrible tragedy
I used to know a few guys that sailed the great lakes, they said they were worse than
the Atlantic

so what year was it Pitchy?

It does get worse because parts of it are much shallower. It's assumed that the Edmond Fitzgerald struck the bottom bow first as she slid down a wave. She was almost longer than the depth of the water she went down in.

Lightfoot's song is a nice tribute, but what really happened on board will never be known. Suffice to say men, some good, maybe some bad, died that day. They left families and loved ones who will always wonder just what did happen.

Growing up in NE Ohio, I have always had a fondness for that song and was moved by it. It has always seemed personal when it mentions Cleveland.
However....... I just can't agree with the viewpoint that since there was death associated with it that the can't be any jokes. Many, many times I have read that humor can be the best treatment for dealing with death and hardship and heartache. Yes, folks died. Sorry about that. But I didn't know them and I'm not going to carry a torch and try to hush others that make a joke. Frankly I thought the mental picture of a boat sunk in the little pond was funny as heck.

If you want to post a thread about a tragedy and don`t care about people making jokes then go for it but when i am doing something to honor someone or thing i`d appreciate some respect.

I`ll add that there are tons of people that died in the military that i don`t know but where would we be without them.
